It can be intimidating when a job interview seems more like a psycological exam.
 
I just got back from a 2 hour party at my cousin's house. I can't remember the last time I was THIS exhausted. Those things just sap every single ounce of energy out of me. I was helping do something in the kitchen, and not even every 5 minutes my aunt kept hovering over my shoulder. "What can I get you?" Nothing, I'm fine. "What can I do for you." Nothing, I'm fine. "How are you doing?" Maybe you missed the first 2 answers? Leave the lady with the boiling oil alone! I strongly prefer having something to do at these parties. It keeps me from having to stand in a corner and pretend to make small talk. So please, stop trying to make small talk while I'm busy avoiding making small talk. Geez.

I get to do it all again on Tuesday. Also just realized I need some kind of present for my brother's girlfriend, whom I've only met twice and have never really had a conversation with. I'm hoping a little bath basket will work.
 
Perhaps she was just trying to make you feel welcome, so you could enjoy the company?

Actually i was looking at it from the other side of the fence, as i have recently been through the process of interviewing applicants for a position at my business.

Sometimes nervousness can make an otherwise good person appear inadequate. I made a point of trying to make the applicants feel relaxed so i could see their true personality.

However i must admit i don't employ many people so maybe my interview techniques aren't that good anyway. :?
 
What do you do if you don't mind me asking?

I think most interviewers probably expect candidates to be slightly nervous, but I'm just going to try and be myself as much as possible and just go along with the flow.

I run a little business that builds/modifies/tunes racing and road cars.

I do/did have a thread about it on these forums somewhere but its probably not worth digging up since it's probably over a year since i updated it. :lol:
