The Australian music appreciation thread!

The Presets are my favourite Australian band. I don't like many more, sadly- I just can't find any that interest me :(

At my school dance, we were singing to "My People" and "Talk Like That", and everybody was toing the "na-a-ah" and 't-t-t-talk" bits- it sounded brilliant :D

I think while dancing in front of my TV to the Presets last night during the Sound Relief concert, that I realised how great they are. I'd always kind of liked their songs but not listened a whole heap, but I've seen the light.

And kind of an Aussie (he was born here), Liam Finn is the bomb.

I was expecting some didgeridoo action.

So you would expect british music to feature flutes and opera, finnish music to be folk, and american music to consist of unwashed hillbillies playing banjos and gee-tars?

I only skimmed over the thread, and I'm happy to have seen some Pendulum and Men at Work.

Also, some Hilltop Hoods, but I didn't see my favorite song by them:

There's probably many more individual tracks that are buried away at the back of my mind, I like pretty much like all of INXS and Midnight Oil's work.

Keep working at it ;)

I fucking hate that John Safran - Not the Sunscreen Song. It was funny the first time, but then commercial radio stations picked it up and flogged the shit out of it.

I don't listen to commercial radio so I lucked out there. I first saw/heard it on RAGE and found it hilarious, and downloaded the mp3 which I listened to a few more times.

what about the seekers? the 1st aussie group to gain success in the UK n US!

I like how the Australian music thread is being kept alive by an Italian :p

Crowded house - dont' dream that it's over is probably quite grating to alot of Australians having had to endure it being played over a billion ads and Toolworth instore radio

Another non-crap Aussie band:

Jessie`s Girl was used in my favourite scene from Boogie Nights (5:30):
