Well, I guess it isn't a full-fledged Cockmobile as it isn't an M3, but instead it's the M3's slightly heavier, a little more mature, investment banker older brother. I present, my new E39 M5:

Little history behind me and the car. I used to have a Volvo S60R (yo can see pics in my profile) which I traded in on a Mini Cooper S, which I then sold and drove around my DD '90 Miata/MX-5, until I found the M.

I located a dealer in New Jersey called Highline Imports (obvious plug is obvious: http://www.highlineimports.com/ ask for Mike W.) that offered an incredible inventory of truly enthusiast-focused cars, and also something call "Auction Service". I went with their auction service and told them to try to locate an M5, M3, or 545i Sport 6pd for me in my price range. They would go to the auction, inspect any car that met my criteria, call me and ask for the go ahead to enter bidding, and hopefully then win the car. Which is exactly what happened ! I went down and picked up my Carbon Black M5 almost one month to the day that I first called this place up.

I picked it up and couldn't be happier, I literally got the car that is perfect for me. It has a few miles on it, roughly 90,000, but the price I got it for is astonishing because it was at auction (saved about $4,000-$5,000).

The condition of the car is amazing for it's mileage. It has the FULL leather package (leather on every panel imaginable; doors, dash, lower B pillar, centre console, everything.) black Alcantara suede headliner, nav, power everything, oh and a massively powerful V8.

I feel truly blessed to have this car and think this may be the one I hang on to for a very VERY long time. Oh and btw, I did have to do some maintenance things when I got it home and it is roughly 1/2 the cost of maintaining the Volvo in comparison. And I even worked at the dealer! Incredible.

On to the pics:

HOLY CRAP, me so jealous :(

Awesome awesome car

edit: need proof pic

Also, one thing i did find out when looking around for this car locally, they're quite sensitive, parts can be expensive, depends on how you push the car, but i am surprised it's cheaper than a volvo for anything

Damn, my favorite BMW of recent times. /jealous

Tasty. My favorite modern BMW sedan. I had the pleasure of hearing one owned by a friend of a friend. My heart jumped into my mouth. Bone stock exhaust too.

I've restrained myself long enough...

OMG OMG OMG OMG ZOMG GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!!

One of my favorite cars of all time. In any class. Congrats!

It must depend on the dealer. It has to. In my area I must be fortunate because my dealer so far has been great. I needed a spare master key and at Volvo for the "switchblade" style it was about $300 and for the BMW it was $150. Wiper blades Volvo blades were $40+, BMW inserts $3.33 + 5 minutes to install them yourself. 90,000 service on the Volvo is $500 no questions, Inspection I (90k) for the BMW is 0.8 labour or $62.50 and they tell you what they recommend to do, then you decide what you want = Very forgiving. Xenon headlamps $250 at Volvo and $180 at BMW. Tyres, oil changes, and brakes on the other hand... well they are going to be more expensive I'm sure, but I don't need to worry about them for awhile hehe. I really couldn't believe how affordable certain things were.

Thanks all!

Thank you much! I do apologise for the crap iPhone pics. I just Zaino'd the car this weekend and then it's rained every day since. So I will hopefully take some better ones this weekend (my birthday :D.... July's been a good month!)

Would it be rude of me to ask what general ballpark figure you paid for the car? Curious how much one of those goes for these days.

Hmm...0.8 hours at the BMW dealer costs just $62.50? You must have found the cheapest BMW dealership in the states.

Congrats on the new ride!

x2 on that. I would already have an M3 or M5 if I was in the states....

oh that is such an excellent choice of car.

id have one too if a good one still didnt cost north of 20k and petrol wasnt 1.30 a liter lol...... epic machine, still the best M5

oh wait, im pulling your chain..... i can get a 2001 with similar milage for around 8-9k and 2002 with 70k for about 11.....20k for a fully loaded e39 M5 with 40k miles on it, 2003 plate and in Le Mans blue!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, the cheapest one here is AUD35,000 (1999) (~20kGBP, 30kUSD) and has 120k miles on the clock. Who the hell would pay that for it? It's nice for me seeing as I would have lost pretty much no money since I bought my car, but poo for anyone chasing that performance bargain.

I really have to stop comparing our prices to US ones, they just make me sad.
