If facebook wasn't down, I'd add the photos I took of this awesome parking job someone did.
Heh, even that unlucky fishing bloke hasn't managed to put a truck into the water going forwards. Still at least the interior willbe cleansmell like fish.
CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK, Ore. -- A car with a dog inside tumbled 1,100 feet into Oregon's Crater Lake after the driver left the vehicle without setting the emergency brake, but the dog was able to jump to safety with only minor injuries, officials said.
A couple from Ashland had parked the 1993 Volkswagen Passat near the north scenic overlook before it rolled backward and over the rim high above the lake. The dog apparently jumped out of the car's sunroof then scrambled up the steep slope to rejoin its owners, whose names were not released, park spokeswoman Marsha McCabe said. The car broke up as it bounced down the slope, scattering its engine, transmission and other parts.
It was apparently the first time a car has landed in the lake, Crater Lake National Park officials told the Mail Tribune newspaper in Medford in a story published Thursday. "If it has happened before, it's been a very long time," McCabe said. Park officials were trying to figure out how to get the car out of the lake after its plunge on Saturday and recover the scattered pieces from areas of the slope that are near-vertical.
The junk must be removed before it's buried by winter snow. When the snow melts next spring, it could sweep more junk into the lake along with possible contaminants. McCabe said a helicopter likely will be used to pull up the large pieces of the car, and crews could possibly be lowered by ropes to collect smaller items. The National Park Service describes Crater Lake as the cleanest large body of water in the world. The 1,943-foot-deep lake was formed 7,700 years ago when the top of the Mount Mazama volcano collapsed.
Is there a leg dangling out of the car, when it rolls down or is it something else?
When you pause it it looks like a fucking leg indeed........good God
And that is why I never go offroad with my hardtop on.
Why so? Do you have a roll hoop? Hard tops will always offer more protection purely because they're hard. Most off road sites here won't let soft top vehicles in here unless they have a roll cage or a metal cab roof (like the Suzuki SJ).
Well, firstly, my hardtop is made of fiberglass, so would provide no structure. Secondly, all CJ7s came with a factory roll bar, and mine has been upgraded to a full 6 point cage with frame tie ins.
