Random Thoughts....

Yeah, it's like living in Hull and complaining about chavs.

:p

Not to be a cunt, but these people complaining about the tornados... you live in fucking tornado alley.

In related news, if you live on a boat you might get wet.

To be fair "Tornado Alley" is pretty fucking huge...

I caught a program on PBS (NOVA maybe) that showed a snake and it's favorite food, a newt, in some state out west that were changing very rapidly. The newt was becoming more toxic, to the point that it has become posinous to humans, and the snake has too, but because it absorb the toxins from the newt.

That's not evolution, thats environmental conditioning. It's like the Chernobyl area deer can survive in higher radiation levels, homeostatis in animals adjusts to prevalent conditions.

I wouldn't really include the yellow areas as "tornado alley." The occasional twister that pops around PA every so often is nothing compared to the giant outbreaks that you'd find in Oklahoma.

This is what the Wikipedia map shows.

Edit: That picture doesn't apparently link too well. But basically, it covers the great plains.

The money was finally transferred from my closed account to my Bank of America one. Whether the Barclays account is closed that's something I'll check, but there's no money in there period.

Well, the weather this month not only didn't cooperate, it handed us a worst-case-scenario for flooding. Right now the question isn't if it will flood the city, but when. When the hydrologists say that "mother nature is going to take us out behind the woodshed" it might be time to move to high ground.

Right now our snow pack should be melting off, but we just dumped another foot of fresh powder up there. The low and mid elevation snow hasn't really melted, but it has compacted into a high-water-content pack. That's normal before the melt off, but the high elevations with much deeper snow is doing the same thing so it will all come down at once. The snowpack is now denser and deeper than it was in 1983 when Salt Lake turned the main highway through the center of town into a sandbag river.

This is what City Creek looked like in 1983, and they are saying that this might be much worse.

Granted, they did a lot to improve infrastructure after 1983, but that was almost 30 years ago. The dredging they did has certainly silted in since then.

For comparison, here is what City Creek normally looks like.

Oh, did I mention that my back deck looks directly over the Jordan River? This should be fun.

I can throw a rock and hit the middle of the river, in fact, I have.

Yeah, this will be interesting. Right now, the Jordan River is at 71% of flooding stage, so when the snow starts melting, this is going to be interesting. We've had some flooding at the resort last week already... need to buy waders! :p

I think we will be ok, since Little Cottonwood, Big Cottonwood, Emigration, Parley's and City Creek canyons all empty in downstream from us.

Redbull gives you wiiiiings! Actually, no, it doesn't literally give you wings.

THANKS, I THOUGHT IT LITERALLY GAVE YOU WINGS.

My father really is a fucking idiot. He actually give some con-man his debit card number over't phone after telling him where he was int th'ouse, what he might be getting for his tea tonight an that he had to run into town soon to go pick up some pour-on wormer for the cows from't vets; which I actually ended up doing 'cause gobshite can't keep his bollocking cake-'ole shut an ended up ringing the bank to have his card cancelled. ?_?

I called me father a tool. Which he is. Of epic proportions.

Some con-men are really, really good... a nice old lady I'm sort of related to lost ?15000 to some ?*$/&!*#s who had told her that I'd had a car accident. Not a good feeling, even though there was nothing I could possibly have done.
