Boardwalk Empire is an upcoming American television series from premium cable network HBO, set in Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition era. The show is adapted from Nelson Johnson's book, Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City by Emmy award-winning screenwriter and producer Terence Winter of The Sopranos.

The pilot episode was directed by Martin Scorsese and he is expected to continue to be creatively involved in the ongoing production. On September 1, 2009, HBO picked up the series for an additional 11 episodes, making the first season 12 episodes long, including the pilot. HBO has stated that the series will debut in the fall of 2010.

Looks good. I always like me some Steve Buscemi. :D

Holy crap I knew the show was going to be good but that trailer was amazing. Looks like this show will be worth the wait.

side note: I almost wish Atlantic City still looked like that, it would almost seem safer than it is now..

First episode was great. It looks like it cost quite a bit to make. The sets and the costumes were spectacular. In that way it reminds me of HBO's Rome series.

when did the first episode air? i'm going to have to keep a eye out for this.

EDIT: Never mind, found it.

The pilot episode reportedly cost $50 million, the cast, set, and production values definitely showed.
And as for the set, you can't accuse them of skimping out, can you?

i thought it was fantastic. The have been missing a show in the crime genre since The Sopranos ended (My Favorite TV Show) and this will certainty fill it. Its Martin Scorsese how can it not be good?

Loved Rome. If I recall, being too costly to make led to it being cancelled.

I thought the first episode of Boardwalk Empire wasn't bad. I see massive potential in it though. So are they going to focus on Nucky Thomspon only or will they start showing the rise of Al Capone too?

Capone is part of the regular cast and not just a recurring character. That would seem to indicate that we will be seeing him again.

I really enjoyed the pilot episode, but somehow the one word I would describe it as is predictable.

I agree. If you've seen enough Scorcese movies none of the events in the pilot should have surprised you. Thats not a bad thing though.

Ahh good. I was hoping it would continue to be an Autumn show.

I can't wait to see the war between Jimmy and Nucky.
