Jaguar is the featured marque of this year?s Goodwood Festival of Speed, a point it is celebrating in style with a giant E-type sculpture outside the front of Goodwood House

just got back!

and it was a blast!! only downside is that cops took my weed, but that might've been my own fault...
weather was great, about 4000 pics were taken so expect a big ass thread soon (as soon as i receive them from the friend who took them)

but i hated the statue! if you've seen the audi inspired one 2 years ago, and the alfa clover leaf yesteryear, this one looks like shit, too simplistic, bomabstic and made in 5 mins...

PS: Jonny Milner won the hillclimb in his modified celica (what a beast!) followed by a maserati MC12 and the lotus-cosworth 88B! :woot:
(a pitty the 787B didn't do a timed run :()

what day was the crash? didn't see it. but did see the car when it was still in one piece :D
didn't see any to be more precise. quite a difference than last year where i saw 3 cars hit the bails :(
(one of which was ken block, laughed hard about that one )

It was on sunday afternoon. In the morning the blue Alpina coupe went off quite heavily into the bails as well, that was why the running order was about 45 minutes behind for the rest of the day. Also on sunday Mansell was trying to donut the Evora GT car but couldn't get it to spin so ended up just nudging the hay with the front of it.

I've just edited some of my videos together and uploaded them. I too have a load of pictures but I haven't begun sorting through them yet!

Was that Jason Plato in the Camaro convertible starting around 3:10?

I wonder if that's going to be a Fifth Gear segment in the future. Seems a bit disappointing to be stuck in a Camaro, compared to some of those other beauties. :p

Yes it was Jason, he was also driving his BTCC Chevy Cruze up the hill.

EDIT: I've gone through all my pictures now so here is a selection of them.

This is only a small selection of everything I took over saturday and sunday, there's just so much to see!

Also I was lucky enough to get my programme signed by Vitaly Petrov, Bruno Senna and Adrian Newey!

yes, you should indeed.
i think i'll be going to the revival as well this year, in vintage clothing and everything
(if you aren't dressed in 40s-60s clothes, you can't go inside the paddocks, because all pics taken there have to look authentic)

I've just spent the past days organising all pics by car, and was wondering how i would post them. from own experience i know once a post contains 10 cars, you just start scrolling and don't look at the pics anymore, so i was thinking of posting them according to the entries list in the official program, and write down the info we're given as well

so first up:

Pioneering Giants
The Early motor car was little more than a horseless carriage, but racing led engineers to develop innovations that are still in use to the present day

1907/23 Fiat 'Mefistofele'
21.7l 6 cyl
Originally a grand prix racer, this car was rebuilt in 1923 by Ernest Eldridge, using a massive aero engine with 24 valves to create a monstrous record-breaker; it reached a 146mph top speed in 1924

1911 Fiat S47 Grand Prix
14.2l 4 cyl
Grand prix regulations limited engine bore to restrict the dangerously huge monster being built. Fiat's response was this car, with a stroke so long that the engine is too tall for the driver to see over the bonnet.

now first a car which is nowhere to be found in the entrylist, but i found it awesome!

1900 Lohner-Porsche 'Sempur Vivus'
2 3.5bhp De Dion-Bouton engines charging batteries, front wheel-hub electric motors
Prof. Ferdinand Porsche was busy designing and developing his cars as early as 1896. The first fruit of his endeavors was an electric vehicle known as the Lohner-Porsche. It was driven by steered wheel-hub motors, and it caused a sensation at the Paris World Exhibition in 1900. This was soon followed by an even more impressive example of Prof. Porsche innovative spirit. A racing car boasting four wheel-hub electric motors became the world?s first all-wheel drive passenger car and marked the automotive engineering debut of four-wheel brakes. No less visionary was Prof. Porsche?s next idea; in 1900 he combined his battery-powered wheel hub drive with a petrol engine, thus creating the serial hybrid drive principle.

a shame i didn't get any pics of the engines themselves :( what i also liked about it, is that it was a solid frame with wheels attached to it, and the car itself, is suspended in it by springs
