Ownership Verified: 2018 Durango GT and 2013 Audi S5

10 years for me, ever since the first release. And it had to be a pre-facelift one, I just can't love the look of the B8.5 as much as the B8.

I loved the B8's as well, but the facelift just appealed to me for some reason. Not to mention the supercharged powerplant.

Oh...I also ordered up some coilovers for the car to make sure the new rims fill the wheelwells right.

I'll probably take the wheels and coilovers to the same shop the same day and get it all on in one beauteous sweep.

I am looking into getting the taillights from the B8.5, though. Those LEDs look awesome.

Which coilover set are you going for? I was thinking about K&W, but in the end went for the Eibach Pro kit (not coilover), as it gets 95% of the way there for 1/5th the price.

My pick might be controversial to some, but I did a ton of research and went with Raceland coilovers.

They're cheap enough where if I don't like them, it won't be that big of a loss and I can go with more established names. If I do like them, I just saved enough money for more mods on the car. And trust me, I have a long list, lol.

I've been looking for bootlips, but nothing other than the stock sportback one looks good to me.

And that one doesn't fit on the coupe. :(

As promised, here are some, hopefully, better pictures:

I should get mine washed and take some proper pics. Too bad it's going to rain constanlty for the next 2 weeks.

Welp, I put down a deposit with a local Audi tuning shop to do all this work for me (relevant sections of the estimate):

I put 50% down, and as soon as the APR Ultracharger comes in, they're going to call and schedule a time for me to drop this baby off for some <Jezza>POWEEEERRRRR!!!</Jezza>

Estimates for this setup on shitty 91 octane pump gas is around 480bhp and up to 540+bhp on race gas, good for up to very low 11's. They will be doing a dyno before and after, so I'll post those up when available.

Not gonna lie, I have a very hard time believing that a 4000lbs car with 540bhp can run low 11s. Maybe low 12s... Don't get me wrong, that's still VERY fast.

It's more like 3800lbs or so. 4K+ weight is for the Cabriolet models.

Here's APR's S4 project car with basically the same mods I'm getting (except for exhaust, which I've explained, and TCU, which is a transmission software upgrade, since mine's a manual):

Curb weights between S5 Coupe and S4 Sedan are virtually identical at 3858lbs.

From the video description:

Specs:

2012 Audi S4 (B8) 3.0 TFSI S Tronic

APR ECU Upgrade - Stage 2+ Ultracharger
APR TCU Upgrade
APR Ultracharger Throttle Body Upgrade
APR Supercharger Drive Pulley
APR Supercharger Crank Pulley
APR Coolant Performance System
APR Intake System
2.5” Exhaust System with Race DP
Street Tires
Full Interior
Sunoco GT260 Plus

Montgomery Raceway Park
March 21st, 2017

1,275 FT Density Altitude (Best run)

Mind you, despite the video above, these are all just estimates and claims. We'll see how the dyno #s add up after the work is done.

I can claim an 11-second car all day, but it doesn't mean I am an 11-second driver. :p

Oops!

I didn't explain the exhaust thing in HERE. I thought I did, but that was in another thread in another forum.

The shop guys told me that the S5 stock exhaust is already very free-flowing as it is, and might add maybe another 5hp on top of what the setup I'm paying for will be adding.

I believe the guy since he could have lied to me and said that it added 25+ hp and charged me the 2K+ US dollars for an exhaust on my car + labor.

I also want my car to be relatively unassuming and unobnoxious, so I'm probably going to stick with my stock exhaust for a while.

No disrespect, but I don't have to prove anything to anyone.

This is the power and performance the manufacturer claims for the products I am paying for, and so be it. I am certainly not flogging my car at the 1/4 track just to prove it. I will however have dyno numbers, so there's that.

With that being said, here's a "civilian" S5 like mine with almost the exact same setup. He talks about his mods at the end of the first video (major differences are exhaust and killer chiller versus my APR HX):

This is the power and performance the manufacturer claims for the products I am paying for, and so be it.

and what will you say if it's only makes a 14s car?
i think you do want proof!

Not hating in your build man, just talking performance cars here.

I hear ya. Just stating where I stand on the subject in case anyone's expecting anything in that regard as soon as I pick up the car. I might take it to the 1/4 someday, but I worry about the kind of carnage a VHT-prepped surface can do to a car.

I might run some street tests using my Torque app or something.
