BRexit : Shall UK stay in EU or go now?

May resigns as Conservative leader on Friday 7th June

Oh deep joy. Cue a hard Brexiteer as Tory leader and an utter shambles of a country, if it wasn't already.

Backing a no deal is probably necessary to become leader of the Tories, whereas brexiteer Corbyn could probably win a general election if he backs remain and Farage splits the Tory vote.

The problem for this person is that "no deal" has been rejected in the house. Only ~25-30% of the house would vote for it. The PM would be thrown out the next day if they tried to force it through.

Also, Nigel Farage clearly needs a lesson in stats, thinking that there is a UK MEP majority for no deal, which is not the case at all.

Well, he certainly has no problem influencing foreign elections for the benefit of candidates he likes ...

Donald Trump has praised Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, talked up the prospect of a Brexit trade deal [...]
He had already praised Johnson on Saturday, saying he would be an excellent leader.
He went on: “I have a very good relationship with Nigel Farage, with many people over there (in the UK) and we’ll see what happens. I may meet with him. They want to meet. We’ll see what happens.”[...]
The controversy was further exacerbated on Sunday when the US ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, suggested the NHS would be on the table in post-Brexit trade talks. [...]
I just don't think being the "Trumpchurian Candidate" or going after the NHS post Brexit is a thing that would help Johnson or Farage in Party or general elections ...

It is quite good to see that only a few people, on either side, really wants a no-deal.

I'm still rooting for the complete overthrowing of Brexit, a second referendum, a "stay" win and the closing of this idiotic move.

This. If the Greek can vote to leave and then have it scrapped, so can the Brits.

Ballot results

Boris Johnson – 92,153

Jeremy Hunt – 46,656

We're screwed. Johnson in Number 10 and Trump in the White House is pretty much the worst news in politics since Benito and Adolf became bosom buddies.

How long will he last until the peoples decide to show up with torches and pitchforks?

They won't. They will click on an outrage post on facebook.

It's called Velvet Fascism - quietly erode all the checks and balances that keep the rich and powerful in check and let them ride rough-shod over the population.

That's why in this country we've been drip-fed anti-EU sentiment for the last 30 years to the point where enough people would vote in favour of leaving the EU. That allows Conservative UK politicians to dismantle the framework that protects our rights as workers and citizens and for their cronies in big business to do what they want. Contracts for our NHS will be sold off to the highest bidders, most likely US companies, and the healthcare system that we have had for 70 years providing care for all, regardless of income and free at the point of delivery, will be gradually and insidiously eroded. Meanwhile the laws that protect us as employees will be gradually repealed or re-written so that we have little or no job security and employers are free to exploit us as they see fit.

"This is the land, where nothing changes
The land of red buses & blue blooded babies
This is the place, where pensioners are raped
And the hearts are being cut, from the welfare state
Let the poor drink the milk, while the rich eat the honey
Let the bums count their blessings, while they count their money.

The ammunition's being passed, and the lord's been praised
But the wars on the televisions will never be explained
All the bankers gettin' sweaty, beneath their white collars
As the pound in our pocket turns into a dollar

This is the 51st state--of the U. S. A......"

Prophetic lyrics written over 30 years ago. Scary to think how true it looks like they will become.

Having grown up in a country which is not part in the EU (Norway) but still has to comply to many of their regulations, I find it both funny and infuriating when brexiteers refer to 'leaving Europe', as if on the day when the UK is no longer part of the EU, it will stop trading with all of the EU countries.

Reality check: it doesn't work like that. If you're not part of the EU and want to sell shit to an EU country, chances are they will require your product to conform to their rules.
