Spied: Ferrari Dino

Ferrari exec says no Dino in the works

Ferrari today shot down rumors that it was readying a new model positioned below the $170,000 F430 coupe. Speaking at a press conference today at the Los Angeles auto show, General Manager Amedeo Felisa directly addressed recent rumors in the automotive press about a new Dino.

He said the company has absolutely no plans for a "cheap" Ferrari. Felisa made it clear the company would continue to compete in its current markets, with no plans for high-volume or modestly-priced sports cars.

Isn't Maserati here to do the job?

It still is FIAT group.

So why would the Dino have larger fenders then a F430? It makes no sense. My guess is that article is full of crap and what they are really testing there is a 430 challenge stradale.

i agree...

And no, you won't be seeing an I6 from Ferrari anytime soon.

yea no way in helllllll

i find it funny how a few days after ferrari announces at the LA autoshow that there is no plans for a "cheap" ferrari, Winding Road mag releases their new issue with the cover story about the 2010 Dino-420, that'll use the 4.2L V8 sitting in every maser atm, and not 2 compete with the F430, ferrari is gonna put a 5.0L V10 with 550hp in it. they say that the spy shots are eithr for that V10 engine or the new dino

and for those who think it is the 430 challenge stradale, there have been spy shots of a pretty much near production cars going around Maranello kinda recently, so i doubt its that...so maybe there is some truth to this

This is what I wrote about in General Automotive thread about Winding Road and thier Blue Devil hoax...

This month they have a four page article about a 2010 Ferrari 420 Dino, when just a few days ago during a Ferrari press conference at the LA auto show, General Manager Amedeo Felisa flat out denied that they are going to build a "cheap" Ferrari. For instance, the interior photo of their "Dino" is the press shot of a 599 GTB with a photoshopped nav screen added to the center stack, and the exterior images of their "Dino" is a Porsche cayman with a 599 GTB front end, with the frontal picture being photoshopped 599 GTB.

Ferrari 599 GTB press shots...

For me it is this kind of reporting goes right back to their Blue Devil hoax, and to me shows how absurd that hoax really is. Who is right? Amedeo Felisa or Winding Road?

btw; I don't understand why if Winding Road is reporting this "Dino" will be front engine, why they have photoshopped rear intake ducts on the fenders?

looks like a porsche on the first pic

Photoshops galore, but that top down, rear view looks awesome!

Looks like they modeled on lots of Ferrari cues on a Porsche Cayman...

Anyway, Ferrari boss Luca De Montezmolo confirmed not so long ago that there will be no new car in the linup undercutting the F430, because that would dilute the brand.

Ahehe :p
Look at the second pic in the winding road article and then look at this.. :D

For me the classic Dino is the best looking car of all time.

Offtopic I guess, but that reminded me. I've heard that original Lotus Elise was influenced by Dino (head designer had Dino at that moment), and now looking at photos they are similar on some ways! :) The front at least.

...well actually i saw it in the online mag:p , but thanks for posting the pics for others to see

and i was wondering the same thing about the intakes also...i mean the bottom ones could be used for the brakes, although brake cooling ducts are generally higher up on the panel, but for a front engine the rear ducts are kindaaa pointless

yes the photoshops are CLEARLY photoshops, but they still look pretty good:) ...except for the interior, the nav screen looks stupid coming straight from the mazer

I dont think Ferrari should make or remake the Dino. Their recent styling choices are awful IMO. I have never been more of a Lamborghini fan.
