Colin McRae:Dirt

Don't believe Sony... Dozens of times we've got pre-release pictures and the level of in-game effects are nothing like they promised. I'm not saying the PS2 didn't render those, i'm saying all the levels will be down for the real time rendering needs at playable FPS's.

Screw the PS2....but you probably meant the PS3......The PC version is what I'm after and the current technology should be able to support some yummy textures at good FPS rates.

And I really hope Codemasters comes through as far as the gameplay goes. I was a bit dissapointed with the offroad aspects of TOCA3. The rest of the game was great, but the lack of good tracks sort of ruined the Dakar and dune buggy sections of the game.

Now that looks fun!! :D

No way those particle facts will be realtime. They'll pwn everything under the sun.

i've been waiting for a decent dakar game for ages. without buying a ps3 and motorstorm. this looks like a brilliant equivalent. hope they've brought back the old mud effects like the ones on the first game. they were the best mud effects ever

screens look amazing

Same here. I really hope the PC version of this game doesn't let me down because I can't afford to get a PS3 and Motorstorm.

I've been playing CMR '05 on the PSP a lot lately and it's good fun. I remember downloading the demo for PC and being dissapointed, but I think I didn't give it enough of a chance because the PSP version is brilliant.

OMG!!! YES!!!! I am sooo buying this game when it comes out! Oh and does anyone know about the F1 game that is supposed to come out for PS3? I hope that comes out for PC or 360!

Nah, the F1 game is made by Sony, so I doubt that they'd want it released for 360.

Looks good. But I am little doubtfull that those are the actual in-game graphics.

I wouldn't be so doubtful. I've been playing the PS3 every chance I get in stores and damn, that shit looks GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. especially on an HDTV. Go play motorstorm and then re-evaluate your position, lol.

might have to buy it for my PSP. sounds good

You may want to download the ISO as a try-before-you-buy test ;) If you don't know how to run ISOs on your PSP, send me a PM ;)

Like I said, I'm really digging this game. I find the analog stick to be really nice for handling and the graphics are sharp. The front bumper cam rocks.

Another thing I enjoy about it is the challenge. You really have to either listen to the co-driver or memorize the track because you can't make a major mistake and win the stage, so it's quite realistic in that regard. The damage is good as well.

One tip: set your gearbox all the way to low so you get max acceleration. It will really improve your stage times. Even at that setting, you hardly ever can have the engine pegged in top gear, so there's no point in setting it higher. There's usually a lot of hairpins and 90 degree corners, so having the extra zip makes a big difference.

I can't wait for some more news on this game!

Was reading an article in a magazine today, they were speaking about how the engine (called 'neon') could be the next best thing, as its adaptable to FPS's and stuff aswell. Codemasters have one guy especialy to design hows the tree's act ...

Sweeeeeeet.

If its on 360 im buying. Looks good, still do not believe it will look that good though, even near that will be awsome.

Also, some new news:

Codemasters today confirmed DIRT as the official title for the next addition to the UK-based publisher?s popular Colin McRae racing series. Further, the company also revealed that DIRT will now add races from the U.S.-based C.O.R.R. (Championship Off-Road Racing) series to its already heady mix of Rally, Hill Climb, Rally Raid, Rally Cross and Crossover events.

DIRT is planned to launch this June for the Xbox? 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC, with the PLAYSTATION?3 computer entertainment system edition following shortly thereafter. The game is currently rated ?RP? (Rating Pending) by the ESRB.

Already set to deliver an exhilarating thrill ride through a massive variety of off-road racing experiences, DIRT?s new C.O.R.R. events see up to 10 drivers going head-to-head in fierce off-road circuit races. The combination powerful vehicles, including Super Buggies and Pro 4 Trucks, along with tracks packed full of tabletop jumps, drop-offs and moguls will make for an intoxicating mix of racing action and will test players? driving skills to the limit.

In addition, gamers will be able to relive those intense and often breathtaking moments behind the wheel with stunning replays. DIRT?s replay system includes dynamic cameras that follow, capture and focus on the most exciting moments during each race, and for the first time in the series players are given full control over the replays action.

This is great news! CORR off road racing rocks (baja trucks and buggies).

I'm counting the days till this comes out

OMG OMG OMG!!! :woot:

Yeah, nice touch adding other stuff than timed rally racing. Doing that over and over can get rather boring.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the PC release in June :D

Yep, definitely looking forward to the PC version.

IGN got a hands on sneak peek preview of the PC version and they loved it

Some highlights:

"best-looking rally game we've seen.......it's one of the best-looking next generation titles, period."

"immediately blown away by the impressive visuals, superb handling"

"we were amazed by how slick everything felt."

"we were instantly impressed by the astounding level of detail Codemasters has packed into the course."

"Other nice touches include crowds lining the edge of the track that, unlike Gran Turismo HD Concept, actually respond when your car slams into the barrier in front of them."

"incredible damage engine."

"the game looks so damn awesome."

"the most realistic road surfaces we've seen in a game."

"an intensely thrilling experience and the sense of speed is almost unparalleled."

"looks great and plays brilliantly too"
