Casino Royale

Oh ya, i didn't really catch the joke about M's name and adding some syllables or what not.

We see how he gets a DB5, but destroying a newer Aston in the process..haha.

I saw Casion Royale today and I have to say I found it pretty boring, slow and overrated.

It sounds like pretty much like all of the Bond movies ;)

Ever notice that Bond films are just kickass in theaters, but at home, they are bit....meh?

Still, I am going to see it next weekend. I have every Bond film....er, well, except for Living Daylights and License To Kill, we all know they dont count.

:hammer: this is nothing short of blasphemy

Seriously, I cannot wait, I think Craig will be way better than Brosnan ever was.

Point of Information: I believe that the Q (Desmond Llewelyn) stands for Quartermaster which makes R nonsensical really. I just saw a TV preview show - made me want to go and see it. Most people on this thread thought it was OK I think.

I saw it on Friday and thought it was great. I can understand why some thought it wasn't Bond..eque. He didn't get his groove on as much as he has in previous movies, and there were far fewer gadgets. Since this is supposed to be his beginning it seems appropriate for him not to be quite as sharp has he should (he's getting his feet wet).
At the very end where he confronts Mr. Whyte it seems there is a spark of the Bond we all remember, and that suave nature will come into play more in the next movie.

On a similar but different note on one the laptops early in the movie there was a background that had the MI6 logo partially off screen and profiled. The logo was black with some lightish cyan color background. It looked real cool and I was wondering if anyone knows where to get that. That would rock as a desktop background.

 The movie rocked!!!

I'd totally go gay for Daniel Craig. He was awesome in Layer Cake so I knew he'd probably do well here and man was I right. He kicked total ass.

Of course there was no R and less gadgets, but since it's a prequel, that's somewhat expected. As said, the next one will be totally awesome. I can't wait!

What I didn't like was the rampant product placement.
Sony laptops, the blu ray disc in the security room, all of the sony ericcson fones, the vario-tessar cameras and on and on and on...

Also, there was a clear overabundance of fords.
The mondeo looks great, as does the DBS.

Did anybody else catch richard branson's cameo in the airport metal detector?

thats true, Q's real name is Major Boothroyd apparently. The whole R thing was just a joke, because R was supposed to be the successor to Q. Cleese was referred to as Q in Die Another Day

Slow, boring, overrrated? Are you sure you and I watched the same movie?

I haven't read the original Flemming novel, tough the point is this is the first novel of the Bond series where Bond was first granted 00 status, before Moneypenny, Q, the gadgets, etc.

Good movie, perhaps by far the best Bond movie since the Connery era, IMO. Less gadgets from taking-over the story and action, no same tired plots like satelites with frikin' laser beams and egomanical billionares wanted to rule the world, and no BS like stealth-surfing into N.Korea, ice palaces, and running away from melting glaciers.

I liked Craig in Layer Cake, yet I had my reservations about him getting the part as 007. After seeing this I say he kicked ass, much better than I thought he would, giving Bond more of a (darker) personality and emotion. After all the bashing he has gotten in the media, I think he need to be owed an apology for people doubting him. That said, I'm really eager for Bond 22.

Conisdering who financed and produced this movie, I'm not surprised with all the Sony gear.

Quite a few Bentleys in there too, Bond mentions his 'Omega' watch when asked if it was a Rolex, and I caught a Fed-Ex delivery man with packages clearly marked with the 'Fed-Ex' logo on them for a split second.

Product placement is nothing new in the Bond movies, though previous ones I think had more than CR.

persoanly i thought Daniel Craig was a fantastic bond in this film, finally an actor has done the character the justice it deserved.

Bond was always a lot darker and more evil in the books than he was on screen. Now I love the bond films but i always thought every bond was just trying to imitate Sean Connery and not one of them tried to play bond how he was written!

I understand why seans bond was that way, in 1962 i don't think the public would have endeared themselves to a bond that needed to be a bit of a bastard in order to do his job for "queen and country"

But we are in a new millenium now so its time for bond to show his true colours, Daniel Craig still had all the suaveness and the cracking one liners that bond is used to. He just showed the darker side to bond that he's been missing.

This ones going to the top areas of my list of all time greatest bonds and i expect some great things from Daniel

Done. :p I'll take it down soon, Alex. :)
It's kinda disorienting when you call forum members by their real name, Jay. (What...that didn't faze you? Damn!) Hey, I thought his real name was Viper! :p

First Name: Viper
Middle Name: 007
Last Name: Bond
