I'm just messing around. I actually almost got a brand-new set for my box, $1300 with tires. The only problem was that the wheels had the gold/bronze color and that doesn't go well with my yellow paint.
Yes they are real, that was at SEMA this year. They are made of some crazy polycarbonate and they can be driven on. The biggest problem I see there is two fold... 1- brake dust and 2 - brake cooling! With a wheel design like that you are screwed on both counts, and I see no possible solution unless they come up with cross drilled tires.
and to a lesser degree the split 5 spokes making 10.
For off roaders, I love the Mickey Thompsons.
For funky designs, I like the Lamborghini Gallardo (already mentioned), gotta give props to the old school Countach deep dishes, and I've grown a fondness for the old Porsche "phone dial" rims (mostly because people have replaced them over the years and now they're kind of unique).
