So how much are we being screwed for car tax now?

In Europe you have VAT on everything, between 15% and 25% depending on the country. Then in some countries you have a car tax, 45% in Holland or 180% in Denmark and then you also have road tax, which can vary from less than ?100 upto a few thousand.

Car tax in Norway is based on several factors. One rate for weight, one for power, one for the CO2-level, and then of course, there's the tax on the purchase price, about 22 %.

Let's just put it in perspective. A Corvette is 220 000 USD in Norway. A litre of petrol is sort of like Britain, roundabout 12 nok per litre, that's about 2 USD. That's about 8 USD for a gallon.

Then there's the tax every time you reregister a car, the road tax, if you do 70mph in a 50 sone, that will cost you something like 1000 USD.

To be honest, we have the highest tax on new cars in Europe, apart from Denmark, which actually has higher taxes.

It's.. mad.

Well... you have to pay for the nanny state and all the Islamic "refugees" somehow...

Good idea except it'd be a left hooker.
