Food! [The thread that started this section]

9am picture update

9am picture update

well not much to say just 2 new shots one of course is the meat and i tried to take a shot of the fire not too sure how it came out.

9am you can just begin to see the "bark" begining to form. bark is a very flavorful outer layer that is pretty much the best part of the brisket

and here is the fire. over all my smoker is pretty efficient (for a $150 homedepot special) so i don't really need a huge fire to keep the temp where i want it

just waiting for the rents to get back from breakfast so i can crash hopefully from about 11-11:30 to about 2ish.. i have another energy drink i can have if i need an extra pick up

You're doing an awesome job there mate!

Thanks! it takes along time but the end result is definitely worth the effort. i only do briskets once or twice a summer just because of the investment of time it requires. usually i do ribs or pulled pork which take 7 and 10 hours respectively.

4PM

4PM

the temp isn't where i want it to be which is very annoying so it seems the meat will be on the smoker longer than originally anticipated

here it is after 17 hours

wow i was supprised i thought i would get more fat to render

Meats Off!!!

Meats Off!!!

took the meat off at 7pm (20 total hours)

here it is fresh out the smoker

letting it rest under an aluminum foil tent. the juices have to be redistribute through the meat

this is all the fat that rendered out

Wow...it's a lot of work, but I imagine this must be AWESOME!

well this is possibly the best brisket i have done in my life so far. i wouldn't be surprised it part of it was paying more attention to the process so i could get shots.

anyway i decided on my side this afternoon:

Homemade baked beans (they were frozen so i just thawed them out)

Homemade Cole-Slaw

Here is a shot of the meat having already been cut into. the pink around the outside is the "smoke ring" it shows how far the smoke penetrated.

here is the vanity shot of it all served up on the plate. everything on it is homemade by my family including the sauce.

all gone

all gone

all done!

wow, crazy! i'm too lazy to even spend only an hour to prepare something...

looks awesome, although at the first glance that black cover screams cancer. :D

i want some meat now.<_<

Didn't know there was this thread until before dinner. Now I took pics of what I had earlier this evening (sorry the pics are a bit blurry, it was from a camera phone):

All this food is making me so hungry....

That settles it. Next time I'm having Pho, I'm so taking pictures.

Vietnamese cuisine? That's yummy!! I went to a pretty famous Vietnamese restaurant here a couple of weeks ago (I didn't know this thread existed at that time), and the noodles there were very good. Next time I go, I'll take some pics!!

Well done to The_Finn for an excellent job with his cooking, for keeping us up to date and for making us hungry.
