Hello all,
Team Finalgear felt it was time to harken back to the days of yore of the Live For Speed (LFS) Demo. So, we are going to host a FG member only LFS Demo 4-Race mini season with a custom FG forum title prize.

Race Calendar:

• June 14th - XFG+XRG @ BL1 - 2x10 Laps (2 Races, 10 Laps each)
• June 21st - FBM @ BL1 - 2x10 Laps
• June 28th - XFG @ BL2 - 2x10 Laps
• July 5th - FBM @ BL1 - 2x20 Laps (Finale)

Race Format:

• Weather: will be dictated by the real life cloud cover of Blackwood, Scotland on the day of the event. (the theoretical approximation of the location of the Blackwood Circuit, if actually existed)
• Wind: will be dictated by the real life wind speeds of Blackwood, Scotland on the day of the event. 0-10 mph of wind = No wind in LFS, 10+ = Low wind in LFS. High wind in LFS will not be used.
• Qualifying starts 17:00 GMT (a poll could be added to vote for a different starting time if current time is not adequate)
  
• 15 min Qualifying
• 2 Feature Races
• 1st Race - 17:30 GMT - Compulsory pitstop
• 2nd Race - ~18:00 GMT - Reverse finishing order start, no compulsory pitstop
• Note: There is no formal pit window, but for the sake of racing do not pit early for avoiding traffic. Try not to pit in the 1st and last ~30% of the race. Gentleman's agreement.

Points System:

1. 20
2. 16
3. 13
4. 10
5. 8
6. 6
7. 4
8. 3
9. 2
10. 1

• 1 bonus point for pole position
• 1 bonus point per race for leading a lap
• 1 bonus point per race for the fastest lap
• S2 licensed racers may take part in the championship, but will not score any points.

The winner of the 4 race championship will be given a custom FG forum title of their choosing from Viper.

Server:

• Information of the server is in the Season 8 Schedule and Rules thread in the LFS subforum.

I'm leaving the states on the 17th, so I won't be able to attend the final two races.

But I still want to race, hopefully I will get enough points in the first two races to maybe squeeze in top 8.

you can still race the other races. you never know, you may place well, possibly even in the top 3 despite you missing that 3rd race.

I can participate, but I'm pretty rubbish at LFS (although I'm better on the XFG than the XRG). Also I use keyboard so that makes me even more rubbish. (Personal Best 1:35.67 on XFG). Worse, there's no way I can race the FBM for more than two laps without crashing and causing a terrible mess of the race
Worst though - I've never participated in any organised LFS race - I just jump from server to server and try not to crash

that's ok. lots of new demo users start off shaky, and with the keyboard. heck, Henry (FireFox86) still uses a mouse, and he continually beats us in our past seasons. you'll eventually learn to drive the LFS cars after some time, and we may have a few of our S2 drivers in the mini-season to help you out. just ask, and we'll all happy to help.

so, get yourself over to our subforum, and register for the season .

well, yeah, i'd say we'd want them to participate, including the rest of us too. us S2 licensed guys won't score any points in the championship, but we can be there to help the new demo racers.

I'm not sure if I should participate or not. My times are around 1:39 for both the FWD and the RWD car. Do any other people suck as much as I do?

Mad in rfactor its worse your on the grid with 20 people in f1 cars some who have crazy pings or are using joypads try to pass em...

It's not about how bad you are now, but how much better you can become if you join us. Like stated above, we'll have some of our S2 users racing with us, and they can help you out with anything you need. Besides, you never know, you may do well enough to Top-3 the championship, or even win it. You've got nothing to lose.

I'm thinking we may have a Friday test day for everybody who signed up, or are thinking of signing up, so that may help. But even still, I don't think the keyboard users will be that bad, come on now .

Once you know the track, its fun to chase or be chased by someone to get better times or better control of the car or track configuration.
I know I used to put some pressure at some guys here to set faster laptimes while driving close behind them, forcing to speed up or taking more risk! (resulting in some crashes...)

Us S2 guys are really good on starts. Most of us have participated in leagues where we are forced to abide by rules and strict penalties. Also, I've gotten better since I started racing. Ask some of the regular guys here and they were a little amazed by my progress in the past year.

Yeah yeah yeah...eventually Henry you will be sweating when I'm behind you .

Friday as a test day would be great. I work in the mornings so I have the afternoon free to me.

If that's the case, I'm in.

First question - when is a good time for clutch crunching? I've noticed the car goes faster when I shift without decreasing throttle, but I can only do it so many times.

which is a good thing . best time to something like that is at the race start, so you can get maximum acceleration.
