This will be a tough race. You have your handsfull on the RAC. In some corners you have understeer and oversteer.... images/smilies/smile.gif
Have a look at the fuel consumption page on http://lfs.finalgear.com. You can see how much fuel the car on a track is using. So if you know a fuel consumption for a combo, please fill it in so we can have a nice full database. images/smilies/smile.gif
In the top center of the page you will find the 'Fuel Advice' link. If an fuel consumption is known, then you will be able to calculate the total amount of fuel neede for a race!

This might be the first race with patch X. Scawen said that the target release date is 1st of June. Someone even made a new stats program for the new InSim Link. Clutch pack preload should make driving RAC somewhat easier.

Ugh I HATE this car, raceabout my ass, "wonderabout", "wobbleabout", "weirdabout" or "boatabout" are far more appropriate names.
If you're a tiny bit too rough with it, the back end will step out faster than you can say err... "Fred Astaire".
Be a tiny bit too gentle, and it'll have more understeer than a dumptruck.
And of course if you try to make a tiny correction, if you don't spin out, it'll throw you from one side of the track to the other.

I'm not a fan of the RAC at all, for exactly the same reasons described above. Only like it on autoX layouts because there its only oversteer and fun to drive. images/smilies/smile.gif

I didn't try this combo yet, but I hope I have some free time tomorrow after university to give it a go.

I liked this combo, the car felt good to drive after some practice and the tires last 15 laps easily. Too bad I can't get under 2:02:5XX, which makes me 1s slower than ESPN and 2s slower than FireFox. images/smilies/wallbash.gif Anyways I'll try to make it to this race.

i have not received any indication from franky that he would wait until sunday to update the server, so i'm expecting it to still happen today. i will have my laptop with me to keep an eye on the status of the server, as i have to work today.

i think to avoid any conflict from this, MXM, could you host the races today? otherwise, i would propose to try the server and hope it doesn't go offline, find an alternate server, or postpone the races until sunday or other day that everybody can meet for.

That might be a good idea. The latest test patch doesn't have any major bugs in it anymore, so that isn't a problem. And the RAC is much better to drive too and I for one have been practicing with the test patches. So let's just have this race on a temporary server with the latest test patch or X if it comes out.

i don't think i'll be racing tonight. i have exams all next week so i need to do lots of work for them, and after 5 mins practice with the RAC i'd had enough. it spins so easily. i might change my mind and tag along but i haven't played LFS for a long time. good luck with whatever you are doing with the test patch images/smilies/smile.gif

Wasn't the official patch supposed to be out already? I don't see anything on the lfs main page, so I guess its officially not out yet. Hence, Franky shouldn't be updating our server, there's nothing to update them with, yet. Or am I wrong?

Patch X is delayed a bit. There is a bug with lots of people trying to get in to a server at the same time, overloading the server and making an overflow. Thus makign the server getting stuck (W38 got stuck with player joining can't do anything state). I am not sure what exactly happens with W39, but I guess the server can still get stuck when it happens. This is not going to happen very often, but when it does the host needs to be restarted so I guess Scawen is trying to get it fixed before he releases X.

Looks like X will be delayed a bit more.

So is the plan for MXM to run W39?

Mmm. Not really. I'm running latest official patch. I meant that I can host if there will be a problem with server rebooting in the middle of the race or something.

I thought we decided a while ago not to use test patches in the race?

I was hoping for the latest test patch for this race, but its kinda late for everybody to jump to the latest test patch. Or still have a copy of the last stable patch.

Good weekend for me, other than it sucked that FireFox got disconnected.

I had a bit of a lucky lap in qualifying and beat FireFox and Pdanev for the pole in the last lap, which was a happy surprise.
Of course it didn't do me any good as they slipstreamed right by me on the start, and I barely hung on before the first chicane as I tried to go around the outside of Pdanev in a place where that wasn't possible.
From there on I steadily lost ground to Pdanev and Firefox and it was a bit less interesting.

The second race, I almost lost it a half dozen times trying to pass people, and found myself in second to last place.
I decided to pit right away so I didn't have to deal with traffic, considering I seemed to be losing it a bit every time I tried to pass someone.
When PDanev came out of the pit, I was right behind him.
I had a bit of hope that maybe I could stick with him, but he steadily increased the gap.
