Click poster for high-res version.

Date: May 5th

Spinning hot and smokey tires through a rough and bumpy chicane...

Getting a close to WR time here is not difficult, but making the tires last longer than a lap is! There's no UFR setup on inferno, but I guess you can pick something from another Aston and adjust some details.

sorry that i abandoned the race after a few laps. the setup just didn't feel good, the car understeered very badly and i had the right front at 120 degrees by lap 4

i will be more organised for the next race i promise

1st race was crap.

2nd race was great I had the best starting position in the track and got off to 1st position easy. Then I widened the gap for few laps, until I saw FF get 2nd position. I knew that he was faster than me and would eventually catch up and pass me, so pitted right away when the gap was at it's biggest. Dropped to last, but I wasn't very far away and everyone else had to still pit. As everyone did I slowly rose to the top again. ESPN came close to passing me, but he made a mistake towards the end.

I don't know what it was this weekend, but I seemed to totally space out and lose track of the braking points whenever I was trying to pass someone.

Despite that, both races were pretty good for me.

The first race I had a good time trying to inch a bit closer to pdanev a tiny bit at a time.

The second race I switched from R4s to R3s, and just had good consistent laps.
I had 4s of damage repair in the pits and came out in second 5.5 seconds behind geeman.
At the end I was catching geeman quickly, but 3 laps before the end, the tires suddenly took a turn for the worse.

1st race very boring! Start, kept pole for short time, FF, inevitably, overtook me. I don't know what the hell he had in mind at the end of the race in the last 6-7laps or but he decided to stop, and let me pass by. First, I was confused, did he ran out of fuel, was it lag, did he time out, I was just looking at WTF is going on. Apparently he decided to bring in some "close racing", and make the race more exciting. I didn't quite get the point, as he was clearly faster, so it's not like I was gonna go "wow, nice battle for 1st place, top notch close racing"...

It also could have screwed up the race pretty badly, we had multiple contacts and bumps, and I got very distracted. I decided to type on the straight a statement that he should drive properly, but while typing I lost control on the straight and went off track and sideways. Also, I slowed down multiple times indicating that he should pass me and continue with his pace, which of course meant ESPN came very close, not that that wouldn't have happened since he was gaining on me all the time, but I think it sped up the closure of the gap.

Anyway, I didn't find it amusing, and imho it was completely pointless, it's not like slowing down will make the race any better, he was considerably faster, cruising around me like pigeon around its own crap falling down the sky, doesn't float me boat.

2nd race was meh as well. 2nd lap 1st corner, I gently touched MXM still in the straight section before the corner, I was on the outside. Sent me onto the grass, and I was sliding on ice way past the tire barricade. That cost me a good 10seconds or something, and I missed out on all the action. I started pushing a bit, but in the chicane got a bit bumpy once and damaged the suspension. That + the cosmetics from the bump with MXM cost me another 10s in the pit. Overall I was happy with 3rd position considering the terrible start.

Overall I am satisfied with the result. It was quite hard to make a setup that will not fry the tires and have reasonable pace. While testing I went below 51s with biggie's set, very low 51 on qualify brought me pole, so I got the rhythm of the combo. But biggie's set was useless for race, and since I didn't have much time I took another set for AS1 as a base. Spent about 2hours adjusting the suspension a bit, steering, tires and camber, till I finally had to throw in the towel and go for R4. Considering that I was on R4, I think I did reasonably well, I don't think there was much more to come from the setup. I think about 51:50s would have been definitely possible, but I wanted to preserve my tires, early and easier braking, smooth acceleration out of the corners, 51:80-52:20 was my range most of the time.

PS: geeman I don't understand your tactics. Why pit early when you are in the lead? Isn't it better if you drive as much as you can, hold back 2nd person, and pit when tires get hot?

I tried to minimize the loss caused by pitting. If I had waited for FF to catch me, he would have slowed me down when passing and then others would have catched too and slowed me more. Then if I would have pitted I would have ended up far behind. Your tactic usually works better if you are faster than the opposition. Which I wasn't so I tried something different and it worked (with the help of damage others had)

Qualification wasnt that good. I pushed too hard to get a fast lap. (During the race i could match the times with R3 tires :S)
For the long races I changed the tires to R3, but i didnt know how the would handle the temperature. Pdanev said he was slow in the first couple of laps, because he said he was on R4 and it would took some laps to get them heated up. So i tried to pass him as soon as possible. After some laps I decided to slow down. Its was a gamble, making the poduim a wild guess. And pdanev didnt liked it. won't happen again
2nd race.
It took a couple of laps before i got 2nd. Right away geeman pitted. So I thought push as hard as I can to close/extend the gap. While doing that i made a mistake in 'eau rouge'. Turned in to early, hit the tires, front tires had all the grip, and turn 90 degrees left. I tried to race with the damage, but the car didnt feel right, so i pitted after a few laps.
(Espn, with the updated LFSStats you see some extra information like pittimes, yellow/blue flags ect.)

I lost a 'bit' in the pit. I also refueled while I didnt had to. I had it still at 50% from the previous races
After the pit, i tried push like hell again. overtaking mischief and mxm. Finished as 4th.

Euh, I've been checking to see if there is a new version before creating them every time by clicking the version linky in the top right, and 1.49 is the latest according to that.
Where is this updated version?
(FYI, it doesn't seem like it's working correctly, I had 4s in damage repairs.)

Here is the latest version: http://www.lfsforum.net/attachment.p...0&d=1176531507

Sadly that is the last version ever, the guy who did it said that it would be too much work to make it compatible with the next patch so he won't be doing it.
