| I realized I've been staring at the previous version too much, so that wasn't gonna grow any fruit. Start from scratch again was the option. Here's what I came up with this time. (still not finished as you can see, other side is empty) Version 1 - broken line ![]() Version 2 - suggested by mxm, straight line, with end part going up ![]() One question is, do you guys like it? The next question is whether we should abandon the color customization thing, and go for a unified color scheme. Sort of get rid of the "200mph fruit bowl phenomenon". My opinion about the issue. I think we should get rid of customizable colors. I realized, that personally always know who's infront/behind even without having anyone in sight, and without using names above cars. I rely on the position standing HUD thing. Even though sometimes I have almost all time long the tire temp up, I still have a lookt at that by a quick press of F9. I also see number plates. So I think it's easy to see who's infront/behind even without customizble colors. Also, with the current skin, about 1/2 of us are using the default blue pattern, and racing still works. Finally, using the same colors on the car makes us more "unified" as a team. Oh, and one more thing. It will make skinning easier for me, and also for everyone else as just simple number change (1min) will have to be done on the psd file. So imho, agreeing together on basic colors, and having just number customizable, is the way to go. To sum up: 1, How's this skin look? 2, Should we get rid of customizable colors? 2a, If yes, what basic colors should we use. | |

| Not the Browser | I know too who is behind and who is infront of me in the race. So the point for recognizable isnt a issue. But when you look @ it in a movie, the quality is less then when racing. So a color is easier then a 'small' number on the side or rear. I'll vote for 'finalgear' colors, maybe add a poll with different colorschemes so we can choose. I'll vote for the 2nd pattern. (looks much faster )

2, Fine by me, I use the names above cars and look at number, only thing is that the different colours makes the screenshots a little more interesting. 2a, I think the grey one you have used is fine, as it is very neutral, doesn't 'disturb' you , as for the other colours I think it is an individual thing what you like and don't like, but I'm not that fond of red and would prefer maybe something blue/yellow/green![]()

| That skin looks fantastic ![]() I agree, I was originally a fan of the cusomizable bit, but when looking at screenshots of movies, like the TPS race, it looks messy and not as immediately recognizable that we're all the same team. I think the race order, plates and green names if you turn them on, are enough to recognize. I realize i'm more guilty than anyone else of ruining the continuity with my texturized bit rather than a solid colour. A single skin would look more 'professional'. I think i may slightly prefer the top skin, but not by much so if it's harder to match to all cars, the second one. Cool work ![]()

| ^ Same here. After TPS race, videos, and after thinking about it, I realized that even without it I always know who's around me. ![]() Whether the line is "broken" or straight, doesn't matter at all, it's on the side in the middle of the car, so that will be copy paste, therefore makes no difference. | |

| old porsches do run! | I like customization Ok, maybe not as huge part of the car as in last attempt, but the stripe like on skin we had so far is perfect for me. I don't think we should all look the same to look good neither that it looks "fruit bowl" even with different colors, more fun imho. But well.. let's vote then. EDIT: In fact I remember I was against team skins altogether at first, and only calmed down after convincing pdanev to make stripe customizeable. Now that we are "proper" team , similar skins is nice of course.. But not identical. |

| Wants Rick Astley's Babies | Ohh man, do I have to dl Photoshop for that again? I still use the first skin somebody was kind enough to make. The one that looks like the site. I just started playing LFS 3 days ago again...

| 1, How's this skin look? 2, Should we get rid of customizable colors? 2a, If yes, what basic colors should we use. 1. Nice, clean looking...can't say it's better than new...old...(well what you did last week ). I somehow like that old one more. 2. Yes, because it might look good in few places...but all that work 3. I suggest my old favorite - black(dark blue)-white-red Please upload PSD somewhere, so I can make few color tests ![]() | |

And in last version stripe with blue pattern was pretty much a default. You just had to fix number, but you can put 00 there for default skin for example. Or just not use numbers at all. | |

| I am personally not a fan of the color customization thing as well... I like us as a unified team with different numbers, if you're racing, you roughly know who is in front and behind you, plus I never had a problem recognizing my car in the videos, the number on the old skin was really big (which I liked )

| Buba no need to use PS. I'll just make a default template with 00 as number, the way MXM suggested. I'll save a #69 jpg for you. ![]() I'lll try to think of some small area for customization, if anoyne feels like it. Btw, which version, 1 or 2, broken or straight line? | |

| On the customisation front - how about one stripe down the middle connecting to a number - this could be a different colour for each car then, whilst maintaining the team colours. I'll try and illustrate what I mean. | |

| Straight line, no question about it.

| Overheat - something like this? ![]() The problem is that if we go for a fixed color scheme, it might not look good with some "customized" colors. Like in the one above, green doesnt really go with the colors I made now. With the old skin it was ok, because it was black/very dark red, so there's hardly any color that doesn't go with that. | |

| yea, that's what I was thinking - perhaps thinner though to prevent it from interferring with the colour scheme too much. my attempt was a little less impressive and again, probably too thick: ![]() but I think if everyone chose a colour for the number and a colour for the stripe the combinations would be more than enough to satisfy everyone. | |

| I will be honest, I don't like it as well... I personally like our original one, but I think the number on the stripe is wayy to small, I prefer a big one at the side

| Well I'm out of ideas. I tried several designs, there was always someone who didn't like something. I can't please everyone at the same time, and I've no clue what the majority wants. Some want simple design, some want something busy... Really, I'm out of ideas. ![]() On the current desing I posted in this thread, there is no place for a large number on the side. And I went for a design first, then adjusting team FG and numbers to it, rather than placing text/numbers first and designing something around it. *confused* ![]() | |

| Don't let it get to you - there will always be an objection to any style as everyone has different taste - you're probably letting too many people influence your creation - "too many cooks spoil the broth" is a common expression that I have to use on a daily basis when I'm doing editing work and mixing - the more inputs there are the harder it is to please everyone. You're the skinner for LFS - you should make a skin, get yourself happy with it, perhaps ask a few others (like 2 or 3) before submitting a final design and polling a decision as to whether it should replace the current theme. Just a suggestion anyway ![]() | |
