Patch Y Information

Merry Christmas!

We are pleased to announce... Patch Y!

The patch contains many updates including :

- New car - Formula BMW FB02
- Updated South City track
- Updated Blackwood track
- Improved AI drivers
- Improved Physics
- Interface updates
- New training lessons
Patch Y thread

The setups and color schemes are now named differently and in different folders than before, so they need to be moved and renamed. The easiest way to do this is to use traxxion's Setup renamer which can be found here

Not a bad update. Though I'm confused as to why the FBM doesn't have a pit speed limiter. Isn't it a race car?

I was wondering the same thing, and also why it appears to be the only car in which lifting the throttle is required for changing gear (it does improve the rapidity of shifting in other cars when you lift the throttle, but it's not required in order to change gear in other cars).

Anyway, we should race the FBM for FG Racing! images/smilies/smile.gif

The update is alright but it makes manual gear shifting with the keyboard a real bitch

The FBM is a real car and it doesn't have a pit limiter in real life, which is why it doesn't have one in LFS.
It also has a sequential gearbox and shifting is done without a clutch. So when you are shifting you lift the throttle and then you can change gears. The autoclutch in LFS doesn't clutch with the sequential gearboxes I presume, which is why you need to shift like in real life. By the way, the fastest shifting method is to press the shift button and keep it pressed and then lift => almost instanteus shift. That's the way they do it in real life too.

Does anyone know what the new CT gauge is when you push F9? It seems to affect the drive train in some way but I can't work out what. The only car it seems to badly affect is the Formula BMW, the others only do it when you really hammer them into reverse and so on.
BTW the Formula BMW is just such brilliant fun, it's just so insanely controllable in a slide.

^ CT = Clutch Temperature. I kinda hate the new Formula BMW, drives well, but it just won't shift up...

That's because you have to lift before shifting images/smilies/wink.gif.

You need to be off of the accelerator to shift up or down in that car. The shifting realism in LFS has really improved with patch Y.
