Does that make the task of keeping points easier? You would still need to add up the points per player and make a list of it, or am I misunderstanding your post?

Well to be honest I don't mind which way the results are shown, one way or the other doesn't really matter. I'm glad you took over this work, so whichever way you deliver the results is up to your preference. It's just that I don't think there is a way to speed up the process. The only way I can imagine it is to make the process somehow automated, getting data from server (e.g. by running lfs stat while race) which is then automatically transformed into points, giving the results in an html table for instance. But I don't know the current progress of lfs stat and what happened to it since the new insim. Maybe you can work out something with FireFox to make things automated, you guys are quite familiar with servers scripts insim etc.

Another option may be to import / query against the .csv and/or html files that are produced by lfsstats.

What extra points do you guys want to count. Is it just fastest lap this time around?

Yes, 1 point for fastest lap between the two races.
I worked on creating an excel spreadsheet that uses data from the stats files (manually copied using IE's export to excel function at this point). It's nothing fancy yet, and I'm not sure I'll have any time to work on it, but here it is. EDIT: Changed it so that it uses a web query against the stat files inside the spread sheet. Updated my points page, but I still used the (10, 8, 6) style points and not the (10, 9, 8) format that Burnsy used.
Which one did we decide to use this season? Points: http://espnsti.iridiumonline.info/LF...FGS6Points.htm Excel files: http://espnsti.iridiumonline.info/LF...GS6Points.xlsx http://espnsti.iridiumonline.info/LF...FGS6Points.xls (97-2003 format) |

A1GP style - 10 9 8, just like last season.
edit: I looked at the times, and it looks like I'm getting the 1 extra point. ![]() Last edited by pdanev; September 22nd, 2007 at 08:38 PM. |

I must be losing my memory, I thought we used the old style points last season.
Ok, I'll change it to use that. Ehm.. no, GraemeH ran a faster lap in the second race. |

1st race:
GraemeH 1:26.40 Me 1:25.79 2nd race: GraemeH 1:25.75 Me 1:26.07 Combined my times are faster. Btw, apparently we're using A1GP points from 2005, they use something different now. edit: Wait, are we taking the best lap from both races, or are we adding them up? I thought we add up from both races and look at that total. Either way is ok with me, just that we should make thing clear, maybe I don't remember well... |

Oh we're doing combined times, and not outright fastest lap across the races like in A1GP?

Then it's not a point for the fastest lap, it's a point for the fastest average :p
But if that's how it was calculated for the first race then that's fair.
