old porsches do run!
|
As my slightly megalomaniacal title says, I finally finished this video after over a month of very lazy editing
![]() And here it is: http://mxm.name/lfs/FG.Season.6.(MXM).avi (220mb) Alternative links: http://misc.techzonline.net/lfs/FG.Season.6.(MXM).avi Torrent: http://misc.techzonline.net/lfs/FG.S...M).avi.torrent FlyUpload: http://flyupload.com/get?fid=5921619 Blatantly stole few ideas from Mischief's videos, and with my slow progress they also served as a guide to find interesting moments as well ![]() My initial plan was not to include any crashes at all, but then some of them were too spectacular not to, so I added a few. Then I started running out of ideas to make it not look boring, so there's a healthy dose of crashes after all. It's not small at 220mb, but then it's 6.5 minutes of 1024x576 @ 30fps, so I couldn't compress it more without making it look like crap. And with lower resolution it just wasn't the same. Maybe x264 would be an answer, but I don't know how to use it well enough. I'll upload it later to google video maybe, but I suggest you watch this one instead, google video wont do it justice ![]() Oh, and criticism is always welcome. But before you mention it - I know, intro is way too long, but it was dictated by the soundtrack, and I'm just not good enough to remix the audio ![]() Last edited by MXM; January 22nd, 2008 at 06:06 PM. I hate do this gigantic word, but I have to, to describe my reaction:
WOW. ![]() That was most excellent, Maxim! The timing of the action with music, the little touches you do, it all went together great. With exception of his color timing, you are up there with DoN, editing wise. I am floored, I really am. What programs did you use?

This was awesome!
![]() Quality, crisp and clean, better than what I play on. Intro was cool, plane flying in, cars rotating, slow down to finish line, fasten belts, boom! Really nice! I didn't find it long actually. I also love the attention to detail at synchronizing! At every bigger beat in the song there's a remarkable car movement/flip/collision etc, e.g. your flip and land at kyoto. Also like the occasional slow down to highlight some interesting fact in the movie. I also think that the number of crashes was perfectly fine, wouldn't call it a crashfest at all. Some nice additional touches were nice too like shaky camera movement on fern bay. Plenty of camera perspectives, but I miss bumper cams. Those can give a great sense of speed and close racing. I also would have loved to see one or two battles, I mean 2-3 consecutive scenes from the same 2 (or more) people fighting in a race. Insted of the generic lot of cars passing by type of shots, I think those had a too dominant part in the movie. Overall I think its a very nice movie, documenting the season well, and respect for time and effort that went into it! Contentwise, two striking scenes, ESPN's lightning start on fern bay, and my very late braking for the pit entry. Those were pretty cool! Honourable also your flip @ kyoto. ![]() edit: Jay afaik, sony vegas. |

Jayhawk: All captured with Fraps and edited in Premiere CS3. Thanks for comparing me to DoN
![]() pdanev: About lack of longer battles, yeah, it's a shame, but I had to squeese 14 races into 5.5 minutes, that's roughly 20s/race. Of course not all races are equally exciting, so it could be balanced somehow. But I did some attempts and it really broke the flow of the video with is quite fast, so I kinda gave up and took the easy way. Thanks for comments ![]() |

Wow is right. I don't know why my graphics aren't that smooth as yours.
I just lost the will to do races 13 and 14. Your video was just amazing.

That was epic! And so smooth, I am very jealous of your hardware ![]() Keep up the good work, I've never wanted to race with you guys as much as I do now, and only an hour before I do! Thanks for including me btw, even though I only raced once the whole season I'm very proud of that skin ![]() |
