| I'm hearing this is a great racing sim. I've seen it mentioned on this board, is there a large group of players here? Does it include multiplayer races with drafing, colisions, tire wear, etc? How much for the game, and how much for a good wheel/pedals set? It includes force feedback right?

| old porsches do run! | Go try the demo, it includes pretty much everything, except only with 3 cars and one track. And people in demo-servers are not very nice... But you'll get a good idea about the game. In short answer to all your questions is yes ![]() If you want to race with us, you gotta have a license, that's 24£. Wheel is VERY recommended. Don't even think about using keyboard. Some get very good with mouse, but that's not a same experiense No analog throttle/brake, and of course no feedback. One more thing, I see you posted it in general Entertainment forum, you know we have Live For Speed subforum too ![]() Last edited by MXM; December 19th, 2006 at 09:22 PM.. |

| Your Guide to TG/FG | Moved to the LFS forum. It's usually a boatload of fun, and for me it has been the most I ever got out of a game given the money spent. We just finished up the end of the season, so we have a break for about a month. Check out the video and photo threads for a good idea of what it's like too: http://forums.finalgear.com/live-for-speed/official-lfs-video-thread-8038/ http://forums.finalgear.com/live-for-speed/live-for-speed-photo-thread-3028/ |

| I'm not Moe | its hard to pick up and play. I play "simulators" like gran turismo and forza often, but LFS is about 100x as hard to get the hang of. I learned to play with the mouse a while back, i bet i suck at it now since i havent touched it in half a year. |

| old porsches do run! | Yeah, it was easier when I started, because many of us on this forum were beginners too, so we could race each other on same level all this time. I've tried this game many times before, but it only felt interesting after I got the wheel and did some multiplayer races. It provides great feeling of accomplishment when you finally get a hang of some car, learn the track (and this might take a while) and have very close races online ![]() |

Rep Power: 28 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Good game. Some of the cars physics seem a bit off sometimes though (seems like there is way less grip than would be expected.) |

| old porsches do run! | I don't know, grip is more or less ok. Problem is, you don't feel all the forces, and you don't feel that speed compared to real life, so you can't expect the loss of grip in the same way, and it feels a bit unnatural. But that's a PC, there's no way to get as much information from it like in a real car, so you just have to get used to it. |

Car: Dodge Viper (I wish!) Rep Power: 234 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I agree about the lack of grip, but it may be because I play too many other racing games. I've never actually driven at 100MPH around a track, so... ![]()

| Grip is ok, but as mxm sad: you cant feel the G-s. I think its the best sim around these days.

| Your Guide to TG/FG | I think the grip is pretty realistic, just look at the speeds you are actually doing in the corners and then think about what you actually would be able to do in real life in a similar car. Many, many other games exaggerate the grip level so much that when you first play a game like LFS, it feels unrealistic. I had the same problem with Richard Burns Rally at first. |

I think one of the problems is that LFS feels slower than perhaps it should, so when you go to take a major corner, you think you should have more grip but you don't because you're actually going faster than you feel like you're going.

| if you watch incar videos of cars very similar to the ones in lfs, you will notice the cars react very similarly. I'd have to disagree with rbr's tarmac physics being more realistic. and Eero probably would as well. :p

Rep Power: 28 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Also, dunno why but GT Legends just feels more 'real' to me. The cars just feel closer to what I'd expect real life to feel like (in both games, no driver aids on a Logitech DFP). That said, LFS is excellent. |
