A1 is financed by an individual, and has a solid buisness plan which they claim will ensure it will make money.

I think the fact that it will have 2 cars and druivers from 30 countries will make it a mater of natonal pride...each country will cheer for its own drivers (or in the case of canada...the country their grandparents came from...GO NORWAY!)

and as much as i hate to admit it...Jeff Gordon is atcually a fairly good open wheel car driver...i heard something about him trying out the Willimas BMW car last year...and frank williams was atcually fairly impressed with his skill base.

yeah, but that's Nascar... the level of racing in many euro leagues is much more elevated than any american series. Its like comparing the US soccer league with the Euro football league.

And besides... Solid business plans can always go sour. What ever happened to the Extreme football league of the United states? I think it lasted about a couple months. Of course any organization would say it would make money when it will be created, otherwise, no investors.

I think the main difference here is that this is an orthodox adaptation of a sport...not like "extream football" which was a stupid idea.

also, it is owned by 1 man...he has 100% creative control...and can make changes at his discression.

also it is internatonal! not like football (yanky game...not soccer) or some of the other open wheel race series A1 will be competing with. europe, asia and south america love this kind of competition...as evident by their fanatisim to F1 and soccer. this is more for them than us fickle north americans some of which think F1 is a silly sport cuz it dont got no Americans on the grid...and wonder why they race at 6:00 in the morning

but this is just my oppinion...and i may be completely wrong. still i cant wait for september 25th!

This could be very interesting, but it sounds a little bit like Nascar, except with real tracks

It's being raced in the northern winter, so don't expect many rounds far north of the equator.

I hope Aus gets an interesting track to race on. I think they were talking of eastern creek, which is certainly more exciting than albert park, but a touch tight for high speed shennanigannery (lol).

I hope The A1 class gets a good footing this year, as F1 is on a steady slope to oblivion, and a hole will be left in my motorsport fanaticism portfolio.

Have you been watching F1 lately?

It may be loosing ground in the US, but it is as popular as ever in less fickle markets, and is gaining ground in asia (middle east and east asia), which have more than enough fans to replace those lost in North America.

Further to the point, this season is kicking ass, by far the best i have seen since 2000...watch the next race...you will see...

It will still come down to car setup as well.

I'm wondering how everyone is going to have the same power. Are the teams allowed to fiddle with the engines at all?

there is no fiddling...this just boils down to the best driver...the driver with the largest balls...like who dares win....

That leads to the driver with the largest crash.
