Sounds like exhaustion caused it, which would be probable when the drivers are not conditioned for 24hr race.

From my earlier post:

Could everyone follow my sig to pay tribute to the driver who died driving the 242 turbo? I'd like to do something to show some respect and admiration for a guy who died doing something I can only dream about.

Yeah i know images/smilies/lol.gif

Still your driving fast for a significant amount of time in what looked like a desert, exhaustion can still be a factor.

RIP to a guy out to enjoy life.

The circumstances bring back memories of Denny Hulme's passing at Bathurst - he suffered a heart attack while racing.

So sorry to hear this - I hope his friends and family can be sustained for their loss.

Considering that the car looks like it sustained hardly any damage, I'd have to agree. Heart attack, exhaustion, maybe even heat stroke (I don't know how hot it gets at Altamont) in any case I hope his family and friends get through it alright, and I'm glad to hear that they'll continue the event.

Hey guys,

I was on track about 1/4 lap behind this car when this happened. From what I could see, there was no correction whatsoever. The reports coming in now are saying he was gone before he hit the wall. It was really unfortunate and saddened everyone for the weekend, but we pressed on Sunday morning and kept racing, which ended up being the right thing to do. Almost all of the prize money given away was donated to Court's fund.

I hope this isn't the end of LeMons, it was my first event and incredibly fun, I am definitely going to do another. I doubt it is the end though, I don't think LeMons can be held responsible. Court had been racing for years, so it might have just been his time. Not a bad way to go if you ask me...doing what you love.

yeah. I'd definitely rather go doing something I loved (e.g. Speedboat racing) than on a bed feeling sick as hell...

To crash through the gates of heaven backwards and on fire... as Jeremy put it.

My prayers go out to him tonight.

I wonder though, how many other people have died in amature racing events such as this? You don't really hear that much...
