Michael Schumacher to race superbikes

Schumacher will race alongside current champion Martin Bauer for Holzhauer Racing.

With this announcement, all of the previous events which Schumacher took part in start to make more sense. Superbike racing is very hotly contested, and the bikes feature nearly two-hundred horsepower in race trim. Therefore, it would have been an exceedingly bad idea to race in this series without a few warm-up runs. According to event organizers, the thirty-seven year old Schumacher has been testing for the last few weeks with members of his new team and "he surprised many experts with fast times." We can only hope that our "retirements" will be so enjoyable.

Haha go Schumi! Unlike most other 'retired' athletes he actually is moving onto other things in his retirement. But of all the kinds of racing out there I wonder why he chose superbikes? Maybe for the speed, close racing, and added challenge?

I think Schumi is participating (I'm not gonna say racing, because that would mean he is seriously going for wins and championships) in riding bikes, because he just enjoys it. Also people's expectations are lower in this field, so he can just go and have fun without pressure. Just ride for pleasure, now that's a retirement.

Still fingers cross, he would go to Le mans someday.

I´m really not a Ferrari fan, but just imagine a factory team competing at the 24h of the ring... just throw a huge budget at it, and randomly slap together some people like Schumacher, Räikkönen, and a ring/Ferrari veteran like Lauda. It really wouldn´t get more awesome than that...

I know, just wish he would return to it. But I also know he doesn't like closed wheel racing.

He's been to LeMans. He drove on the Sauber team in the 1991 race.
