This weekend I raced at the best racing facility in all of North America and maybe the world. Miller Motorsports Park is epic. This weekend was Utah Region SCCA's first ever race and they did a great job. Also at the track were about a million motorcycle racers and also a million kart racers, yet the paddock wasn't even close to full. The main road course is built as well (actually, probably better) than Laguna Seca. It is 4.5 miles long making it the longest road course in North America. It can be split into an East Track and a West Track. The Master of the Mountain motorcycle racing series was held on the East Track. They also had a 1.5 hour endurance race. SCCA races were held on the West Track. This track is amazing, I really can't describe how awesome it was so I'll just post some pictures.
![]() I rented a CSR for Saturday, which was a double drivers school, so I could see what Formula cars were like. After all I am trying to get a job doing this so I need to get a feel for everything just in case. ![]() You would not believe how fast it can go around corners, it really is amazing. I'm still sore, my neck, arms, wrists, hands, back, and legs are all sore from driving this car. ![]() ![]() ![]() I ran a 1:30.8 on my fastest lap, during qualifying and the race Sunday, guys in the same car were running 1:33s. Practice start during the drivers school ![]() Miller. Well, just look at the pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cobb Tuning has a garage there and I saw them testing one of their hot STIs ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sunday was the race. I was slow in practice and qualifying due to tires with too much tread. I qualified 4th and I was a little put off because I felt like I had the fastest line and it was just a Regional race. I went into the race confident that I had more experience than the other drivers and ended up winning it! My very first first place! ![]() ![]() I passed all the other Spec Miatas in the first corner of the race and stayed ahead, finishing a half a lap ahead of 2nd place. First lap ![]() Second lap ![]() ![]() Basically this whole facility is fucking awesome and you need to go there right now. I would say that the complex is better than Laguna Seca, and once I race the full track (and I will) I'll report on it, but by judging from the West Track alone, this racetrack is just as good as Laguna Seca. Three corners in particular, Devil Demon Diablo, make this track world class.

I had the good fortune of once being a passenger in a 2 seater sports car at Zandvoort. Once you've had a ride in a down force car like that, everything else seems rather dull, it's nothing at all like driving a normal road car. When that sucker went around the Tarzan curve, I thought my head was about to snap off at the neck (and this was at a time when I was playing American Football, with plenty of neck strengthening exercises).

Yeah, dont think if I was a racer I could fully concentrate with that as my background.
Will I ever see you at a SCCA or NASA race at Road America? I am probably going to both this year, would love to cheer you on! |

Road America is too far from me. I was going to see if I could make the June Sprints, but it won't fit in my schedule. One of these days I'll race there though.

Congrats man, how's your overall record so far? That track looks amazing, and the scenery even more so. I can't imagine how great that CSR must have been, i've been sore from driving a Formula SAE car and I was probably nowhere near it's limits lol.
