I thought they were skipping Monte Carlo next year?

M-Sport have said that they only Fiesta S2000 likely to turn up in Monte Carlo would be customer cars, unless they get a big budget from some where.

Interesting news:
Robert Kubica is tackling a couple of rallies in the coming weeks in a Renault Clio R3. Should be interesting to see the results! Second rally (Rally de Vres or something) Loeb is driving a C4 WRC in being co-driven by his wife!! Daniel Elena is also driving (yes, driving) in the same event in a C2 1600. If Kimi and Kubica ever end up in the same rally there will be some serious competitive rivalry!!

There has been some talk about Kubica heading to Arctic Lapland Rally this winter. There is a potential on Kimi vs. Robert at that point.

Heikki is thinking about doing that one as well, I assume Mika will also be on the start ramp. Quite the crossover its fabulous to see!!!
I'd rather see Kimi and Kubica head to head on tarmac, their strongest surface, though.

^ Whole eight kinds of possible awesome right there! We need more drivers trying other mediums, for the potential interest factor alone. Especially in rallying...what has become of it!
If Raikkonen goes to WRC next year, I mean, as an actual regular entry instead of driving in F1, I might just follow it again, just to see how he goes.

The problem, of course, is the contracts F1 drivers have. Kubica can now take part in Renault Clios as he's a Renault man, but if Kimi goes to McLaren he might be out of luck as there are obviously no Mercedes rally cars.
And if Kimi will go rallying he will almost certainly not be in similar machinery with Kubica, as Kimi will have the freedom to pick whatever he wants and I can't see him going for a slow FWD car instead of a S2000 or WRC spec machine. Heikki might be able to take part if he doesn't get an F1 deal in any of the manufacturer teams, I doubt the small teams would care about their drivers doing other activities in their off-time. |
