I expected to place 7th or 8th in the first national races of the season, but instead I took 2nd and 3rd and a picture of my car on the grid starting in 1st place will be in the Sports Car magazine, maybe even the cover.
I'll also get money from Toyo Tires and Mazda! Finally racing is starting to pay off! Oh and I also broke the track lap record for Spec Miatas by .300 seconds, but they won't count it because it happened in Qualifying and not the Race. Not only that, but Randy Pobst was at the track and I talked to him for a good 15 minutes every so often. He gave me tips and said I was really doing well, his girlfriend was trying out Spec Miata to get a feel for RWD cars, she dominates in California in a ITA Acura Integra. Now when I watch Randy racing his Mazda 6 in Speed Touring I can say he knows my name and I shook his hand, several times! I won't have video today, long day at the airport. But I should get it up in a bit. The 2nd race was especially exciting. Pole position!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Congrats man! Randy Pobst is one fast dude. I might have to join SCCA (autocross discounts would be nice) to get that magazine if you make it on the cover.

Brake fluid started boiling about lap 15, thats why he could catch me in the corners. Before that I had a 3 second lead.
Oh well, lessons learned.

Boiling brake fluid?
![]() Remind me again; is that #3 or #4 on the list of racing driver excuses? BTW, where's the video?

Haha, when I finally get the video up you'll see what I mean when I say boiling. I enter turn 1 at 115mph and the pedal goes all the way to the floor. Then I get back on track and enter turn 5 at 85mph and the pedal goes straight to the floor again, no amount of pumping gets the brakes to engage. I went straight off the track in both places.
