I see the exhaust on the 999 as part of the whole tail assembly. It's just as wide and on the street version the actual tail is quite a bit longer than on the F03/4/5/6/7.

I mean...just LOOK how short the tail is on the 212..

Am I supposed to take that picture serious? I am missing a smiley here.

Also the pic I posted is from the street version, it has mirrors, a sidestand and a number plate.
Ducati sold it as a single-seater as well.
Anyone sitting on the back of a Duc must be into masochism anyway.

Although looking at it a bit longer. The proportions are a bit weird with that huge wheel hugger.

I am a bit confused though. Is this the new 2009 bike or is it the earlier one I posted.
The earlier one looks better.

That has to be the 2007 Bike. Hayden has the #1 plate which would be for the 2007 season as he won the title in 06. 07 was the first year of the 212.

And no that picture isn't supposed to be taken seriously...thought you'd realize that Though I do suppose Germans may not have the exact same sense of sarcasm we have. And yeah compared to the rest of the bike the tail just looks supremely inadequate. Just...it makes it look WAY out of proportion.

BTW...forget the person sitting on the pillion. Anyone sitting on a Duc PERIOD must be into masochism PS which fussball team in münchen do you support? I have an Adidas Beckenbauer track jacket from the 06 World Cup...love that thing

They are using full carbon-carbon discs anyway. I guess the rules are just there so they don't run with Ceramic dics in the rain instead of the old steel discs.

Surely launch control is a different thing to traction control though - if the bikes are the same as cars that is. The ban on launch control will only affect the bikes at the start - they'll still have traction control limiting all that powersliding goodness.

I thought I had heard that they were banning traction control as well? Or at least that they were moving in that direction.

But that would make the sport less safe and thats the whole reason for them going to 800ccm machines in the first place. If you lose traction in a car out of a corner you spin into the gravel trap, same thing on a bike and you end up in a highside and break every bone in your body.

^yes but TC hasn't exactly eliminated high-siders.. And now they are almost worse because the riders expects the TC to take care of them.

Good point. Funny thing is...if TC was around in the late 70s...who knows... we might not have had King Kenny, Lawson, Spencer, Rainey, or Schwantz as champions.

The reason why Americans absolutely dominated the 500cc world championship from 1978 to 1993 was that they had a dirt track background and knew how to slide the rear tyre.

In that 15 year span only 3 non Americans won the Championship. In fact... since 1978 an American has won the World Championship on average one out of every two years. And that's including Doohan and Rossi's run. I may be nationally biased but I say...out with TC!
