First the news: I got engaged last weekend.
Yup, already headlong into planning stuff for a wedding that is nearly 10 months away. So, as we have been planning things, she told me to be in charge of the car to get us to and from the event, etc. And so I thought, "Once in a lifetime event, should be a once in a lifetime opportunity!" And set out looking to rent, an Aston DB9. 8) This is where I ran into a problem. I had no concept of how expensive renting an exotic is. Some prices: Murcielago: $1799USD per day, 50 miles allowed, $3USD each mile over Gallardo: About the same Mclaren SLR: $3999USD per day, same restrictions as above About the only thing have decent is the new Z06, about about $1000 for the whole weekend. So now she is saying we should just get a limo, and we can rent the car another time, maybe for a birthday, so we can both tool around it in on a weekday or something. But I dunno if I would feel as comfortable spending that kind of jack on a regular birthday, you know? What to do!!! |

The wedding is all about the bride - all men should be entitled to pick any car they want for the getaway afterwards. Take it out of the catering budget.

Maybe try an older supercar? How much would a 550 Maranello or Diablo cost?
Or maybe less expensive contemporary supers? (like a Maserati or something)

definitely Congrats on the engagement!!!!
I will probably nto reach that time... probably should get a gf first. Anyways, if you want to rent a limo, it's about $2000 for a day as well isn't it? might as well get a nice super car then. Dont' ge tthe z06, it's definitely a car you can get after retirement, very affordable in the US. I wonder how much a 360 Modena costs.... If all else fails, a Merc SL55 would do the job woudln't you think?

Well, welcome to the club. Congratulations!
As for renting a car, how about doing this? Rent a Jaguar XJ! There is nothing more elegant than a Jaguar at a wedding.

first of all congrats 8)
the wedding is in may? I would choose a convertible a DB9 fine but a volante then ! Also for an oldtimer I would go for a jaguar E-type mkI or a SL gullwing or a SL cabrio w198 , or even a tr3 as for a supercar I would choose something like a F40 (first because it's ferrari and one of the most wellknown ferrari but a F50 a CGT or murcielago roadster could be a good thing too ) I think an open roof is better for the big day .

2 of my thoughts were: ![]() ![]() And: ![]() But of course, we'd all love: ![]() Disclaimer: All the above cabrios come in a hard top version incase the bride is concerned about her hair.

You guys.
You are too much. First, thanks for all the well wishes. Now, on to your suggestions: How many brides can you see getting blown around all over the place on their wedding day? As much as I would love to have many of the cars suggested, especially the ones Vette Boss suggested, I dont think a convertible is practical except on TV or in the movies. Cobol74, an Ariel Atom? Are you crazy? I actually LOL'd when I read that. Also keep in mind that I am limited to what I can get locally. So some things, like a modernized E-type Jag, would be impossible to find. Here are some links to what is local to me, to give you an idea: http://www.platinumexotics.net/inventory.html http://www.rentexoticcars.com/dallas.html http://www.eliteexoticcars.com/showroom.php |
