A racing car video racing clip I will never forget...

Hi all,
I was just wondering if you guys had a racing car video clip you have in your mind that you still can never forget.

I know there are many clips people have but I'm looking for the obscure & unusual.

The one I have is truely unforgettable, in my mind anyways.

I'm not sure of the race or the series but I'm certain its the same kind of series as when that Mercedes took off & flipped at 180mph over the barriers many years ago.....You know the type of car I'm talking about...

Anyways the action for this 'clip' was a race on Eurosport, I think, many years ago when a race was on. There was a straight on the track which was quite long & one of the many cameras there that day was positioned at the next corner at the bottom of that straight. It was a very hot day & an ideal day for racing...

On that straight you could see from the camera a heat haze rising up & blurring the cars coming on to that straight some distance away. Then after a few minutes or so, of cars braking & turning on this bit of track, a rabbit appeared & sat on the racing line. Now I thought he would just hop off into the fields beside the track....but he didn't images/smilies/cry.gif

The camera mentioned before was guite low to give the real impresion of speed. But you couldn't tell how close the next car was to hitting that rabbit...I mean the rabbit never MOVED a muscle...he just sat there...

What happened next I will never forget. One of these cars came round the corner onto the straight with the camera still having the rabbit in full view with the heat haze rising & you couldn't see the car coming out of the haze that well either...

The rabbit was hit at nearly 160+ mph & all I saw 'rabbit...really badly damaged car...no rabbit...'

I remember watching it as the situation unfolded & saying to myself 'Come on rabbit MOVE! You'll be killed'.

The impact was monumental. The whole right side wing of the car was destroyed & our furry friend met his maker instantly as well.

I've seen many a crash & I've seen the Senna crash too...& Schumaker when he broke both his legs. Sennas death was truely dreadful & there but for the grace of God went Schumaker.

However I'm wondering about the obscure & the unusual moments only. It doesn't have to be a crash at all...just something you may have seen on a track at a race.

If you have one you really remember & want to add then please do.

Hi swek,
Thats a dreadful clip but The one I had in mind, & maybe I'm wrong, was of the poor little fella sitting there & not moving & then he gets splatted. However as I said I could be wrong....but that vid isn't how I remembered it anyways.

However that tyre vid is the business. I've seen that before & it's awesome.

Robert Kubica's recent accident at Montreal. What sticks out the most to me is he (fortunately, given the severity of the crash) only suffers a light concussion and a sprained ankle.

^ He broke his leg as well. So many safety cars in that race.

Also, did you notice that at one point it was a Honda concept car? This one:

It was leading the cars round at one point for about one lap, taking over from the Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM. Very strange

Kubica is fine. He didnt break anything. The McLaren guys were misinformed images/smilies/wink.gif

The Hamilton hype must be pretty bad I guess, if even this hasnt been said on ITV yet.

I agree with Red_Bull.
It took an hour to clean the track and restart the race. Also every time I see that clip, it just looks... violent. And expensive =D . Look at those tyres flying... lucky nobody got hit in the head.
