I like dogs, I respect dogs, and I enjoy the dogs of others.
But, if I were to get a pet for myself, it's going to be a cat, no question.
519Simple question, are you a dog person or a cat person?
I ask because I see so many people in the cute thread posting kittens and talking about their pet cats.
Personally I'm a dog person, and I was put off of cats by the ones we have in India which cause a huge problem all the time for my aunt and grandmother. Note that kittens are excepted here.
Apparently dog people are more dependent, and cat people are more independent. Not sure how true this is, but it's just a thing I heard.
Feel free to discuss that as well if you want.

Meow!
Dogs are cool but so much work. If you call on a dog he'll show up, if you call on a cat he'll go "fuck you bitch". I like being degraded so I'm a cat person.
Pets - when well looked after and not a problem to the neighbours are a boon especially to a family with children - they can teach unconditional love, a parent can use them to teach respect for animals and hence people and they are great company.
Love cats. Mysterious but civilized, at least the ones my roommate has are.
1062Dogs. Feed them, respect them, and care for them. They will be loyal to you until the end of time.
I like dogs more than any other pet. Just like Hitler did. I just haven´t gotten around to kill millions yet ... like all us dogloving mass-murderers in the waiting ...Apparently dog people are more dependent, and cat people are more independent.[...]
And while I do like dogs more than any other pet, the rest was just irony because I don´t think there is any of truth behind what "Cat-people" or "Dog-people" are like. You can prefer Dogs or Cats because of various reasons. There isn´t the dog or cat owner.

Cats. Because they are evil.
Although, the idea of a loyal servant is also rather intriguing, "release the hounds" has an evil, most excellent tone in to it.
Hmm..I guess I voted wrong. Because these little things would be the most evil and most awesomely horrid things you could ever release on your nemesis.

Bunnies!
J/k. I really don't want pets at the moment. My apartment's too small and bad smells (which would be magnified by a tiny apartment) affect me really badly.
Of the two, I definitely like cats a bit more.

239I like most pets that are not like, spiders.
Dogs got personality. Personality goes a long way.

224Where my dogs at? Represent! Negreps all around for cat people. jokes! you don't have to ban me
Actually, this will be interseting once more votes are tallied. 'Twould be interesting to see what the different continents prefer.
Dogs are just too dependent on human contact. Mother has three dogs and they always seem to be whining or barking for something. They're not intelligent enough to give anything back, so it's not all that satisfying having three yappy rats running around.
I've always preferred cats. Just much cooler overall, certainly more independent. Matches my personality more.
You guys didn't need a poll to know I'm an "all animals" type of gal now did you. I have a cat, guinea pig, and bird already. I adore dogs too and other pocket pets, even evil buns and chinchillas could find a space in my heart. There are things I like and am not in love with about most of them I'm sure, but I get along so much better with animals than people anyway. Sometimes I think I'd love to have a huge farm full of rescue animals getting all the space, food, care they need, but you don't always get to know them all that way. I think I like having a few house pets. I could handle a few more than I have when my financial situation changes, so I'll probably open my doors again then and see who adopts me. I don't have a particular thing for reptiles and insects, but I'd probably grow to love those too.
239^ I read that too fast and did not see guinea in front of pig. YOU HAVE A PIG? COOL!
