If you can't draw cars you are probably not talented enough and be better off doing homework...

That's about the dumbest advice ever. "well if you can't do it don't bother practicing". LAME!

All illustration takes is practice, a good book I have is this. If you search around you'll find tons of books about illustrating cars and such, but all it takes is practice. a book or video will get the idea of technique in your head, but it's only after practice you'll really get it. Just keep at it and you'll keep getting better and better.

to practice you can start off by tracing, as it gets you used to what all needs to be done, lines, stokes, etc. then go to copying stuff freehand. before you know it you'll be knocking out concept drawings of your own, it just takes practice, there's very little talent involved in the actual drawing, it's coming up with ideas and seeing the way things should be in your head that takes talent, but that can be developed.

The same goes for drawing any subject, learn the techniques to proportion, perspective, lighting etc. and you can apply that anywhere. You'll eventually find your own style and technique, for example my girlfriend is an artist and uses the technique in which you break down objects into shapes first and go from there, which has never really worked for me, I just sorta sketch things out and fill in details.

practice practice practice.

Graphics pencils are good to buy, you can get different shading . But tyres are a B******d to draw, mine look like eggs. images/smilies/lol.gif

But if that and Zenkidori's advice fails just trace it from a car magazine images/smilies/wink.gif

Best of advise I can give to just look at what your drawing. I mean really look at it.

Ask yourself if maybe the frontwing is a little off square with the door ?

Is the headlight really that far away from the other headlight ?

Are those lines paralell, does the sideskirt meet the arch at that angle, is the window higher ...

If you think something looks a little funny or out of proportion, turn your drawing upside down and you'll spot your mistakes immediately images/smilies/smile.gif
