Default Ever realized you haven't taken care of your body?

Well i suppose i was asking for it, but now i'm pretty sure i have gum desease. I mean i was wondering why my tooth was all loose and off to the side, and why there were little brown spots behind it. God i'm a stubborn idiot sometimes. I know all about the complications that poor gum health can cause, so far as blood clcotting and higher glucose levels etc, so I'm just sort of freaking out. Of course i'll need a docter to look at it, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Right now my biggest fear is i wont be able to see my dentist within a few weeks, i suppose this is what i get for skipping a few damn sessions. The root of the problem is i've always been able to maintain white and cavity free teeth without any form of brushing, don't know why, so i got lazy by age 8 or so and just haven't brushed, needless to say now my gums are dying at age 20.

You haven't brushed in 12 years? Holy shit dude, no wonder you have the mouth of a medieval person.

I'm lazy as fuck, don't floss, don't see a dentist often enough ($$$), etc. but I make sure to brush usually once a day.

You act surprised that your gums look like the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef. This, of course, is coming from a person who meticulously brushes his teeth after breakfast and before bed, and has done so for the last 20 years, so the thought of going to sleep with the day's crusty food bits and sugar still coated to your teeth frankly terrifies me. Let's just say I'd hate to be your girlfriend. images/smilies/wink.gif

Dentists really don't cost that much though, least compared compared to years of pain

So you kept your teeth clean and free of decay somehow without brushing, what about the rancid smell and taste you get when you wake up in the morning? I can't stand that shit, or any other funky mouth tastes for that matter. Thus I brush at least twice a day.

But hey, I'm bad in other personal health departments, mostly with getting exercise. Also I have 5 wisdom teeth that my dentist told me I needed to have extracted 4 years ago, and I still haven't gone. Too damn scared. images/smilies/sad.gif

Same here. I'm extremely lazy, but still find time to brush at least once a day.

Shawn: Try and get an oral surgeon to pull them. They can put you under for it and it isn't too bad.

@ Ottobon

Didn't you realize that this would happen sooner or later?

But since it has already happened I suggest you get it checked by a dentist asap.

Yeah, my regular dentist sent me to a surgeon for a consult but I never went back for the actual appointment.

I have 5 wisdom teeth and the 3 I have on top are all lodged up in my cheek. On one side there's two on top of each other, so they'd have to go so far up my head to get it. I chickened out and they never hurt so I never went back.

Well having just been to the dentist yesterday, I can see your point (and literally feel your pain).
I always brush daily but ideally you should do it twice a day. I get lazy after a few weeks and do it once a day at best... so that means you go back to the dentist every year with atleast 1 or 2 cavities

with all the drilling and filling and yucky stuff. I always come back from the dentist with the idea of "now I won't let it slack off and do what they say"... but after a month or so I can't be bothered anymore (and the cycle continues)

but seriously, 12 years? I'm amazed you have any teeth left

Likewise - I've been to the dentist once in the last 15 years, but still brush once or twice a day. But not brushing *ever* in twelve years? What about that horrid feeling first thing in the morning?

How does one not brush their teeth for such a period? Apart from the disgusting feeling in your mouth, how can other people come around you, without feeling like they're at a landfill.

I'm pretty lazy about oral hygiene, but I brush at least once a day, with an electric toothbrush which has many fancy features. The idea of going a day without brushing is completely unfathomable to me. I can't stand that gritty feeling and the taste of morning breath.

On a side note, I'm surprised Ferrari hasn't designed some chintzy, overpriced toothbrush...
