Default Finalgear's IQ

There's plenty of discussion of IQ tests being an accurate measure of intelligence, but for the sake of fun, take the International high IQ societies test and see how you did.
Be honest and dont be embarrassed about your IQ though. It would probably be different based on what you're doing at the time and is by no means an official measure.

For those that remembered I wanted to join Mensa (mostly for resume` purposes) I took their official test and didn't pass. They dont tell your score for legal reasons so I'm goin to take a formal IQ test when I'm back in Texas and see if I can't get in that way.

btw mine was 131 and i took it again later with a friend and got 127 and took it a third time while watching TV and got a 121 (a sign?) so I'm gunna choose 121-130images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

my dads official score was 155 so technically he's a genius

Uhh, none of those scores mean diddly-shit. Unless the test is administered by a professional who is trained and certified in the administration, scoring and interpretation of that particular test (not just testing in general), and the test is taken in clinical conditions the results are worse than useless. There are no IQ tests that are industry-standard that use computers. None. The industry-standard is the Weschler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), there is another one called the WISC for children. It's an oral test with some paper and pencil work as well as puzzles and other manipulations of objects; none of which can be done on a computer.

Internet-based "IQ" tests don't measure intelligence.

I'm fully aware of that which is why I'm going to again stress the "fun" factor. I'm currently looking for a psychologists who'll administer the Weschler test for me. Unfortunately from what I heard it'll ccost upwards of $1000 which unless they take my health care provider is out of the question.

^ "Also, I can kill you with my brain." - River Tam, Firefly

I'm not going to answer this, because I was actually administered a clinical IQ test and know my score. In fact, I have been given three clinical IQ tests and they were all consistent. One thing I notice is that the mean score for IQ tests (100) is fairly low on this list. It will be interesting to see what kind of distribution we are looking at. If the internet tests are accurate we should see the highest number of responses in the 91-110 range.

By the way, scoring, interpreting and writing the reports for a battery of tests is a huge pain in the ass. Seriously, Sisyphus has it easier.

I agree with Blind, Online IQ tests are very limited and don't measure real intelligence. They measure a few feats that are present in intelligent individuals, but it's very easy to influence the result of those tests. Nonetheless, when bored i sometimes take these tests, because it's a nice break from puzzle games or normal games. I always get a score between 145 and 150, unless i'm tired or sth.

If that were accurate, you would be in the "Very gifted" category way out on the tail end of the bell curve. Only about 2% of the population claims that right.

Too bad the results are crap.

The only official IQ test I ever did was back in school, they tested the 11th grades in my town to see correlation to grades. We didn't get an IQ score only the comparative ranking score, 97%, yet I there were far more than 3% with better grades images/smilies/tongue.gif.

Was the IQ test administered one-on-one or as a group?

IQ tests just compare you to the rest of the population.

If all people took the test (or if a test-group that is big enough and is totally random took it), the average would be exactly 100. That's because it's assumed intelligence is like a bell-curve.

So no test on the internet could ever give you a good result. IQ scores are NOT absolute numbers, but are relative numbers that position you inside the bell-curve.

I dunno if anyone else has noticed, but it seems to me everyone on the internet has an I.Q. of over 150....

When I was tested mine was 136. Meh, I never put much stock in it, so it's not like I go around parading the fact.

/*Put's on "136" t-shirt and heads to work*

Wow according to the polls we are pretty inteligent bunch.
Internet tests always give me a number around 130, the real number that was measured was somewhat lover, in high school. Since i've gotten dumber with age and use the internet and watch dumb shite on tv i guess my real number must be around 75 now.
