I need ot figure out what train(and how to purchase tickets and where the stations are) that travels from paris to Barcelona.
This is one leg of my multi country trip in Europe this summer.

Do you have like a Eurail pass or something?

do you only do this one train journey? because if you want to travel through most of europe by train, you can use interrail-tickets, which allow for free travel for a month or so in most european countries. high speed trains excluded...but its cheap compared to buying single tickets.
if you only want to make a few journeys, i'd suggest the high speed train. afaik there is no direct connection, you'd have to change once. tickets can usually be purchased at the stations or in travel agencies.

If you just want to get from Paris to Barcelona, go for a cheap airline. You'll save a bunch of money and time.

I want to experience the train rides in Europe. I love trains. I am definitely doing trains for this leg so I just wanted to know what train it will be and where can i get more information.
Yes i'll be using the eurail pass - 10 trips for $500USD or so. I think this pass works for local trains in Italy too ... i hope. I'm also taking the eurostar from london to paris. And i think the eurail pass will give me a discount on that ticket.

Okay i take that back. Flights are SOOOOO much cheaper that i'd be a fool to refuse it.
So i guess it'll be flying all over europe. And only train ride on eurostar.

![]() I also prefer tain to flying, much nicer experience imo as well. But with cheap flights in Europe, you'd be a fool to not take it indeed. Usually I fly back to Hungary for about 100-150euros, there & back (and this is rather expensive, considering some of the offers of cheap airlines), and I pay 80euros for a round trip to the airport in Amsterdam. And it's a simple local train, not a Eurostar, ICE, TGV etc.

How much time do you plan to spend in those cities?
I guess if it's a short time, major tourist attractions will do... If you have more time, it's best to let local people give some advice.

To hell with trains and planes, if I ever get my shot at Operation European Assualt, I'm going to get a hire car. Sure, it may end up being an Opel Astra, but when you dream itenerary looks something to the tune of:
Isle of Man Nurburg San Marino Monte Carlo You just have to have a car! Now, if I could just save up enough cash...

I've been from Paris to Barcelona by train before, but this was a number of years ago. I went from Paris to Lyon by TGV, then down to Avignon, Montpellier and Nimes, then changed over in Nimes to a Spanish Pendolino train which took me all the way to Barcelona.

i'd hire a car as well, something small like an astra or 206
then you'll be able to travel to things to do as well. not everything is located in the city, and public transport might not go to certain areas all to often (but remember that in france you have to pay toll on lot of the highways) |

Yeah, if you're going for a long time, consider short-term leasing on cars. I think Peugeot and Renault offer such things, but the lease time has to be longer than 17 days.
