I have been taking care of our baby Oscars at work and on one of the many trips to the petstore i was able to intereact with some adult Oscars, and to my suprise their 10x more aggressive then i ever thought (deffinitely more agressive then our little babies.) The middle age 4 inch Oscars where jumping out of the tank and hanging on to my finger in attempt to cure their hunger, scary. So now i know that the fish we have at work are going to grow up and be crazy as hell i thought why not allow them to get some of the crazy out so that they don't end up having pent-up energy like indoor house cats do.
I'm thinking about giving them feeder fish, but i feel just throwing the little fish in to get gobbled up is a unfair and maybe even a little perverse, so i was wondering if there is any sense in buying a few little areas of shelter for the little ones so the smarter guppies will stand a chance and at least not straight away get gobbled up by the bigger fish.
I do expect the Oscars to eventually catch the feeder fish, but in a perfect world I'd love for the feeders to atleast have a very minute chance of somehow surviving much longer then otherwise capable, I'd also like to force the Oscars to hone their hunting skills rather then just being literally spoon fed. So basically is it possible to set-up a fish tank for a decent game of cat and mouse?
