Default Need help understanding Welsh stereotypes and joke

As an american watching random british comedies (most recently Little Britain) i see many random jokes at the expense of the Welsh, but unlike the more familiar Scottish and Irish stereotype depictions that americans are pretty familiar with thru tv and film, many of the welsh jokes i dont get at all.

For example the Little Britain segment i watched had David Walliams take forever to make an answering machine message and rejects every one, finally does an Indian accent and then goes 'no...too Welsh' and deletes that one too.

So from a brit perspective, what are stereotypical views of the average welsh ppl? Feel free to answer as honestly as possible without offending any welsh members on the forums.

How can you tell if you are at a Welsh wedding?
The bride usually throws the first punch to start a brawl.

How do you know when you are in Welsh country?
The sheep on the side of the road back up to you.

As far as I know, the Welsh are regarded like how we in the US regard people residing in Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, Northern Wisconsin, etc.

The Welsh accent and the Accent of an Indian speaking English are similar in some respects. There was a phrase my mum used to use - "he's a Bombay Welshman" - no I never did figure out what she was on about (she was Irish herself so another minority living in England), oh well. ... This was well before there were many Indian people living in the UK.
