New Pants Report

I bought a pair of motorcycle jeans online - the seat and knee joints are reinforced with Kevlar and I'm going to get some armor inserts to protect my knees from impact just in case I do go down on the bike.

The Kevlar feels different than cotton, it's not quite as soft. The jeans are very thick already and that thickness it tripled in the areas of Kevlar reinforcement. It takes some getting used to.

I know some guys who think I'm an idiot for going with motorcycle denim instead of leather or a commuting suit. It's not that I have anything against leather, but I can't afford it and a 6'4" guy in leather pants in the Bay Area is ... well, let's just say that I won't be going to The Castro. The jeans are comfortable, look reasonably good and are improved safety over regular pants.

I have a pair of these but mine just look like usual casual pants, almost combat style just a lot thicker. The Kevlar is in the arse, knee and thigh area.

These look like regular jeans too, but you can tell they are heavier material, more like commercial or farm-grade work pants.

Actually, with that type of outfit, it'd be Folsom Street I'd worry about...Castro is more of the metro-gay, whereas Folsom Street is a lot of the "bear" population.

How do I know that? Let's just say the company I work for has...a "colorful" staff.
