In my experience, dogs panic has soon as they sense the slide and they just lock-up their brakes and understeer. Cats on the other hand tend to correct it and then power through. Cats are just better drivers. err... runners.

This thread is gold, I've been laughing my ass of for the last 5 minutes!

I'll definitely be watching how my dog is running from now on. I know he sometimes goes too fast, and then it's panic and scraping the fence for instance...

hmmmm... I have 2 dogs, and IIRC, one if FWD, the other is RWD.
they both do the "standing still while accelerating" thing like they do in cartoons though, just one does it with front legs, the other with rear legs.

Also, epic epic slides can be had with RWD dogs, I'm talking stuff that Ken Block only dreams of
