Jeez, at 22 a five-figure bank balance was the stuff of dreams for me (and will be again soon once I buy a house... err I mean once I buy a small, small part of a house and sign away my internal organs to the bank...). Yeah, buying a house, selling that house, buying another house, getting married, getting divorced, and selling that last house in the space of a few years really messes with your finances for quite some time...

That's not meant to sound jealous btw - sounds like you're setting yourself up nicely.
I have a fairly significant portion of my house deposit saved for (looking to buy in the next 12 to 18 months) images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I came home tonight to the news that my mum saw my neighbour's cat dead in the gutter as she was coming home, obviously cleaned up by a car. She had to go in next door and break the news to her and her children when they came home shortly afterwards. images/smilies/cry.gif We're all pretty upset.

I'm not surprised that something like this has happened, people speed through our street to avoid the one parallel to ours which has speed humps. I think we need them here too. I don't want this to happen to our own cats. We do keep them in overnight, and this cat was left out at night to wander about, but it would have been hit in daylight. Our cats are pretty lost atm, going around sniffing everything with their tails down, they just know something has happened. They were really friendly with this other, older cat and they used to play together a lot. Ugh..it's just horrible.

I can't believe something like a DVD drive would cause such problems, but I'm back to my original config minus the DVD drive and all is well.

I am really really really really glad it wasn't something bigger though.

Massive "catching up" post from me

Ah I see the issue here. The issue is "old people talking to random strangers because they have nothing better to do". They will not comprehend that you have stuff to do and need to be someplace, instead of just wandering around aimlessly.

See also : old people that ask to cut infront of you in the store (FUCK OFF), old people who choose to go to the store after 5 pm when everyone else is getting home from work, etc.

Only solution is just euthanizing everyone over 70. Sorry gramps.

you know what, I've never thought of that...if the "rims" of the wheels provide the thrust, it doesn't make sense that it lifts off first, then the wheels flip down.

Also, hoverboard technology doesn't work on cars since 1) they're too heavy and 2) they don't work in the rain!

I know how you feel, my area is a 50 zone, but people will regularly do 60 or more. My kitty loves to roam about, as do other cats (pretty animal friendly area), but there are still incidents- there is about 2 pet deaths a year from cars hitting them and a lot more wildlife dead. Nobody has ever owned up to hitting the animals, which I think is deplorable. If I ever hit an animal, I would immediately try and find out who he/she belonged to and try to tell them how sorry I am and everything.

My cat, when he was about 2, got hit by a car and injured his leg. He ended up having to get some pretty serious surgery which cost us a bit and took him a lot of time to get over (he still occasionally has issues from it), but we never found out who did it. If somebody had come to us and honestly said that they were sorry and offered some sort of apology (and possibly a bunch of flowers), I would be annoyed that they didn't observe their surroundigs better, but I would understand. If I found out who did it now (even if they told us themselves), I would tell them how much pain they put us through and try to get the money off them for the medical bills and suffering. Then buy O'Malley a cage crawler images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Dun dun dun, hope the school admin gives me the webspace for my thesis project soon. Deadline's creeping up and to be able to finish the written part, I need to finish the website project so I can write about it. =P

Oh absolutely...but TBH BTTF does not have that many plot holes.
The other great "timetravel" movie like Terminator has lots more, and when you think about it, it kinda ruins the cool of the movie. So I tend not to.

Pedantic scrutiny of plot structure? Where we're going, we don't need pedantic scrutiny of plot structure. images/smilies/cool.gif

In reference to plot scrutiny: I totally buy the fact that one day we might be able to time travel, however I just can't buy spontaneous defiance of the laws of gravity. My only thought is that there is some sort of anti-gravity device that Doc brought back from the future that is just never referenced because it is not important to the plot.

I watched Primer (2004) yesterday, and it's pretty realistic.

Edit: The flying car conversions in 2015 probably cater all the anti-gravity stuff.

I think its pretty safe to say that every single aerospace student got shafted by today's control systems exam.

Seriously, lectureres putting shit into the exam when they explicitly states in their lecture notes "we will not cover this" is bullshit, but sigh, can't do much now. images/smilies/sad.gif

Fingers crossed for scaling.

This is pathetic. I'm sitting in the dark because I went to bed so late and woke up so early that I want my PETS to continue getting some sleep. SIGH. Went to bed around 12:30/1am and woke up before 6.
