How large is Al-Khobar? 750 miles for one city is impressive, especially since Riad was a lot closer back then
Something is wrong here!!

Got drunk for the first time today, wow was it embarassing I did not remember anything and puked everywhere and pissed myself, but I managed to get other people drunk too doing shots, I should not have done the last 3 shots of Barcardi 151 though, 5 would have been better.

Ohh I would love to be 14/15 again... first time drinking is soo much fun. You don't know your limits, like everybody else and it will always end in some sort of mess... Sadly by now most people know how much they can have.

Oh, that brings back memories; To this day I cannot even smell bourbon without getting nauseous.
Here is a tip, CDBob: Do maybe 2-3 shots, then just drink beer, and let the "shot_putters" make fools of themselves. Oh, and during the day before the party, down about 2 quarts of water. You will thank me in the morning.

Top Tip from someone who found out the hard way. Eat some food too, bread/milk sort of stuff is good before you start. Do not mix wine and spirits in large quantities - ever!

Well I did not have a hangover thank god, but my stomach is seriously fucked up right now, not from drinking but from stress and shit so I can't drink anything carbonated which sucks shit, so I will probably mix some drinks next time when I do it and take it easy, the only real reason I was doing shots was because the guy there gave me one so I was like what the hell its his booze and then I did like 3 shots with him and shot him drunk and then I did another 2 and then 3 151s probably looking back pretty stupid, but it feels good to totally kick someones ass at something they do all the time and you never do, it was also funny because hes like using coke as a chaser and I could not because of my stomach and shit, but honestly why would you need one it tastes totally good the way it is. I am 17 though I waited a really long time to get drunk, mostly because my Grandfather was an alcoholic but the next step is drinking with my girlfriend. Sorry for the life story, but I'm still drunk and just kind like, ahhh fuck it.
BTW apparently I was like totally talking a lot about fucking my girlfriend, how do I make sure I don't totally do that when I'm drunk and not remember anything because I mean its good and all, but whats the point if you cannot remember it. Oh oh and also wahts the best way to drink shit if you can't drink beer, I mean I would if I could but my stomachs pretty fucked right now, and does your tolerence level go out with practice?

Yep it does.
Rule of thumb for sessions, no more than 3 Pints (500 mls) of beer an hour and nothing else, should be able to go for several hours talking reasonable sense.

next time, drink more slowly and drink less, that way the effects for the first few drinks you have will have time to kick in and may keep you from doing those next 5 shots of <insert liquor here> basically nurse your drinks. Most newbies who don't know how to drink slam too much too fast when they first start drinking, not giving themselves enough time to tell how much they can tolerate, so it hits them all at once too hard. As far as tolerance goes, the more experience you have drinking with moderate regularity, the more tolerance you will develop and the ability to 'hold your liquor' again, this is not an exact science and everyone's body chemistry is slightly difference, so to quote you some exact numbers/timeframe will be useless. Lesson: don't drink so damn much next time and just enjoy yourself. |

Does your tolerance go up with practice? Certainly. But like you said, you saw what happened to your Grandfather. My brother for example, was a marathon runner 8 years ago, now he is an alcoholic; it started because he was stressed and drank at night to calm down, gradually, it became more and more. Then he got a DUI in November, lost his job and lives in a halfway house. What a life, huh?

Second, try not to mix drinks. Mixing drinks tends to lead to pain. If you do mix drinks, it seems that 'softer drinks then on to harder' leads to less pain than 'harder to softer' - so start beer and move on to stronger. I don't know why, just is like this. Along those lines, and this is just anecdotal evidence between my friends and I, those of us who drink beer/cider usually have more of a hangover than those of us who just drink spirits (mixed). I read you can't have carbonated drinks, you can still mix drinks with uncarbonated things - orange juice, cranberry and other fruit drinks work well as mixers with certain spirits. Yes, your tolerance goes up with practise. The trick isn't being able to drink tons, it's knowing to drink slower and knowing when to stop. If you can, sneak a soft drink (a non-alcoholic drink) or water - tap water is free at the bar - in between rounds, or at least every so often. Personally, when I get back to mine at night, I drink a large amount of water before bed. I find it helps reduce hangovers.

1. If you know you're going to drink and when, take your liver on the week-before-St. Patricks diet. Choose an assortment from this list:http://www.gmhc.org/health/nutrition/liver/food.html . Also drink a lot of water during that week, lots of it. And I mean water, not pop, not natural juices, not coffee, water (bottled water might be better, all this water will cleanse a lot of toxins out of your system). 2. The day you're going to be drinking, plan ahead. 4 hours before you're going to be drinking, drink a glass (two if you can) of prickly pear juice (the hangover secret, good for your blood vessels) as well as drinking a ton of water throughout the day. And between 4-2 hours before you drink, treat yourself to some really fatty foods (it lines your stomach and makes alcohol enter your blood system less easily). 3. Drink all your friends under the table. 4. After the party and when you've drunk yourself silly, drink water by the bucketload, lots of prickly pear juice and lots od those foods that are good for the liver ... with all the fat and alcohol in your blood it's going to have its work cut out for itself. Oh, and don't drink a lot of shots all at once, pace yourself. Quote:
And yes, the tolerance level does go down with practice. I used to be able to drink up much more and only get dizzy, but now that I quit drinking at parties for a while and started picking it up again, I drink less and throw up. |

^Kinda takes all the fun out of it. We're going to get plastered, right after we make sure we've gone through the necessary procedures first. Nothing worse then an irresponsible drunk.

Well, then, only water and prickly pear juice should do it. And don't drink on an empty stomach, you won't be able to drink as much.
Oh, and drinking is not necessarily used to get plastered. I use it to loossen up. Makes me feel wild and high. I'm still very lucid, I have all my balance there. That way, I'm not drunk, won't do any mistakes. But I have much more fun. Plus, I like not getting drunk at parties where a lot of people do get drunk. Those that are still sober at the end of the night get to make fun and have their way with the ones that did get drunk that night. ![]() So I guess the reason for alcohol for me is to get other people drunk and remain sober myself on the same ammount of booze. Neat, huh?

Holy christ, this is like the opposite of an AA meeting.
I'd like to chip in and say that, no matter what you do, force yourself to drink a glass of water before bed. You will feel infinitely better the morning after, no matter what you've had the night before. And stay away from The Green Fairy. |

I can vouch for chugging water before passing out. I've never had a hangover if I've done that.
Speaking of alcoholism, I miss Kegs & Eggs while I was still at Ohio State. A bunch of people from the fraternity got together at 7am on home football Saturdays. We proceeded to get very drunk over breakfast and kept it going until it was time to head over to the game. Gametime itself was like halftime for drinking. After the game we resumed the boozing well into the next morning. Ah good times!
