I'm buying drinks all around images/smilies/cheers.gif

Some tornadoes dropped by the Daytona Beach area, and did Embry Riddle a whole lot of hurtin'. Our maintainance hanger has been destroyed, there's a couple of holes in the Sim building, the windows have been blown out on 4 or 5 of the more important buildings. Not to mention that 50 of our airplanes have been destroyed.

On one hand I'm a little happy about it, but on the other, I realize that it'll probably be a pain for me to try to get back to my apartment next week, and that this will all be coming out of my tuition images/smilies/cry.gif

What a bugger, glad you're OK. I wonder who insures that lot, bet it goes through London somewhere along the lines (Re-Insurance probably).

I know. It's just that sometimes Embry Riddle seems like they'll raise tuition for whatever reasons they can find. The start of the spring semester has also been pushed back by about a week.

I'm sure its all insured, school with lots of expensive things outside, On the east coast of florida. Still it takes time to get back and running the way things were before.

I just got back and took a look around. Seems the damage isn't too bad, but loosing 40 airplanes is still a bitch. The dorms are completely unscathed and outside of the Maintenance Hanger and Spruance Hall (Admin building, the den of evil), everything is in good order. I'm just glad that it happened in between semesters, no one was on campus when it happened.

As for insurance, most of the damage was covered, but there is still a good chunk of change that isn't covered, and I don't want to spout off numbers at the moment. The school was set to get something like 20 or 30 new aircraft from Cesna by the end of the spring semester, so Cesna is trying to expedite the order, as well as collaborate on finding rental aircraft in the meantime.

Luckily I'm still able to get to work (I work on campus at the Library), so I won't be missing out on any paychecks. I feel sorry for others, though. A few students lived at Sutton Place (appartments) which got utterly raped, putting a good number of students out of a place to stay.
