Don't forget pulling US Senators aside for extra screening.

In all fairness, the screenings are not done by racial or social patterns, so you have to expect some senators getting picked out. :p

Nice one.

Right, so security continues to pull 6 year old girls, 70 year old men, and US Senators aside for special screening (have I personally witnessed two of these three, the third made the news) while the profile of a terrorist remains unchanged.

So the next terrorist attack that isn't intercepted because of these stupid rules will be the first dead in the name of political correctness.

I hate to be an ass, but males 17-35 are the typical terrorist. Not grandparents or 6 year olds. Even our own home-grown terrorists tend to be males in this age window.

I know. Actually, couple of female friends of mine were rather harshly patted on Stansted. They felt violated, actually, Lots of grabbing and pinching. Not professional.

Are people that fit the "terrorist" profile not being subjected to extra scrutiny? Just because grannies and toddlers are checked, doesn't mean others are getting through. Anyway, there was a report of some weapon being hidden in a stuffed toy (I think in Orlando)....so...

I have a friend of mine who use to work as a TSA at Orlando (MCO), I suppose I could ask him the full details of his job. Though afaik, the actual tickets will have a code on them, and if you're the unlucky sob who gets that special code, you get searched.

Though yeah, he talks about how they're always running tests on the monitoring stations doing stuff like putting "weapons" in stuffed toys.

At OIA and a few other airports i've been too, they check your ticket and ID before reaching the security line. Afterwards you go through the detectors etc, but they don't look at your ticket again. So they wouldn't have an opportunity to see a special code or anything.

I think they do have random searches, but I also think that if they see somebody that looks like one of the 9/11 hijackers....they will most likely be searched. Not that there is any policy saying so, it's just common sense. As far as random searches, better safe than sorry I guess.

Actually they are so worried about being sued they don't really pull anyone aside based on profiling.

I have been selected for "extra attention" before. My dad and I were on a trip and we got tagged on both flights. They do put an extra code on your boarding pass. They check it before you get to the detectors and again at the detectors - at which point I got to stand there while a guy stuck his hand down the front of my pants to make sure I didn't have a bomb hiding behind my button or zipper. No shit.

I remember on one family trip my mom got stopped at all 4 airports we transferred to. Nearing 50 years old, approx. 100lbs...yeah, terrorism is a family event, apparently.

This was right after the shoebombing incident, so they just made her take off her shoes instead of the all-out random screening Blind was subjected to above. Of course, she had slippers on, so it took literally a second. They must have been fulfilling quotas or something.

The agent was female. But the groping was still excessive. And, it happened with three of the girls, all with rather big knockers. You know, there are women on the other side of the fence. images/smilies/tongue.gif

I think I saw a porno that began that way.

When did they find the bag full of whipped topping, before or after the handcuffs?

lol Are you joking? Screenings are not done by racial or social patterns? Maybe where you live but not in Chicago. I'm a Pakistani guy so I always get looks at when I go to the airport even though whenever I go, I go for the clean cut shaved look. I know of a lot of people that just happened to be "randomly" selected who were all of Pakistani,Indian or Saudi Arabian descent.
