So.. of the two, which would you choose? B-17, or B-24?
b-17 has always been one of my favs.
I've been aboard both of those planes when they stopped by my area a few years ago. They belong to the Collings Foundation, and you can book flights on them when they're on tour. Yeah its pretty expensive, but keep in mind, the money helps them keep those old gals in flying condition.

That B-17 combined with the pics I just saw of the USS Reagan with all the cars on the flight deck just gave me an Amerigasim.

Its actually a 'B" model and also a 2-seater. It tours around with the B-24 and B-17 giving rides and you can buy actual flight time in the P-51 in the process (for a TON of money). Absolutely stunning airplane, though - I've been fortunate to have been able to play around quite a few of those machines:

One of my favorite anecdotes, I was at Fantasy of Flight a couple years back, and in their hanger they have a P-51D and a P-51C, both sitting right next to each other. Well, a young boy and his father are looking at the two aircraft, when the young boy points at the D. "What airplane is that, daddy?" "Oh, that's a Mustang!" The boy points at the C. "What airplane is that?" "Oh, I don't know, son."
I seriously felt like shouting "It's a Mustang!" Seriously, when the two are parked next to each other, there really is no mistaking that they're the same airplane.

Ah, I was close a P-51B. Hey, have you got stick time logged in the two seater or just playing around as per the photo?
Truth be told, when I first saw the picture with that strange angled shot, I thought it might be a P-40. Then noticed the radiator below and the C-cab window and thought Ah-ha! It's an old Mustang.
There are a lot of late model P-51's around but few early ones, so I'm not surprised that the dad didn't get it. He should have asked someone though. If there are any in England, I've not seen one yet.

Short doco on the Red Arrows:
Someone told me the BBC is supposed to have filmed one as well?
In case you can't tell I'm quiet obsessed with the Red Arrows/Formation flying in general. Dreamed of being a Red since I was a kid but I think the reality is that I'm not cut out for fast jet flying. Still, I will progress towards an Aerobatics endorsment.

Sorry, but the 727![]()
Bet he wasn't Italian.Remarkably the pilot did not feel the need to perform an emergency landing - despite the dead bird being stuck - and continued for another hour to his destination in Ishigaki, in the Okinawa Prefecture.
