The big thread on defecation!

This thread is inspired by jayhawks amazing find, the "poo shelf toilet" which lets the user inspect her feces and smell up close! Share your toilet horrors and weird toilet contraptions you've come across in your travels in the world here!

On a hotel in Valetta I found that they had very weird and frightening toilets, when I flushed for the first time I thought there was a blockage somewhere as the level in the bowl just kept rising and I was sure the contents would spill all over the floor! After a few very distressful seconds the bowl then suddenly emptied as it opened a valve in the back and the level quickly dropped as it went rushing out. It was apparently the way they did things down there. Very strange!

I have never been to Japan unfortunately so I have never used one of these which I am thankful for but I hope someone has and can share their experience or other shitty experiences!

^ I fucking hate those! And all public toilets for that matter. At least here, every single one reeks of bad odors and if you're lucky horrible imagery. Only the posh places have nice ones but who encounters one of those along a highway? Even those you have to pay to enter(~30c) are horrid places.

Er, they may use those toilets in France, but squat toilets are hardly exclusive "French toilets".

Toilet horror?

Having a unit of Malaysian SFOR troops on guard duty who use the squat technique on our previously white flush toilets. Those lavatories were as bad as women bathrooms afterwards.

Thats why I put '' '' around the word french.....they are called 'french' toilets over here ,assumingly because the originated in france .

I hate those shelf toilets. My grandparents have one in their house (soon to be replaced) and the water pressure is not great. So if you sit down and crimp off a big enough cable, the water runs around the sides of your newly formed island, without moving it an inch. You are then left with the unenviable task of finding an implement to give it a shove into the bowl. I used to avoid going there simply because of the fear.

But I do love Japan.

speaking of shit, my boyfriend's workmate's husband (now there's a link) was telling us tonight about the shit he and his brothers used to get up to as kids in the 50s and 60s, back when explosives such as penny bungers and tom thumbs and other fun fireworks/fire crackers were readily available. one of the best ones was when they chucked a bunch of penny bungers down the hole of an outhouse, shoved the youngest brother in and slammed the door shut. You can imagine what happened next. the best story however was one bonfire night, when he chucked a penny bunger at his older brother, which happened to land in his pocket...which happened to be full of fire crackers. Short story is he lost at least one nut and has never had children.

Random fact: a glowstick dropped into a portable toilet makes a really cool glowing effect coming up from the toilet at night.

Also the first day I was on this island I was completely baffled by a toilet. Not because it was one of those weird squatty ones, but because the flush handle went both way and had weird pictures that showed what each direction did but even that was lost in translation.

I guess I picked the correct flush because everything seemed pretty normal. I was too afraid to try the other mode in case it should summon Godzilla or give the word to drop the bombs.
