I think the stretch of road that runs along the cliff face and has a bridge as well would be a great road too. They race the WRC on it and it I think it's Monaco.

You mean 101 or is called 1 down there? 101 is the coast highway here.
And if you do mean that highway, yeah, my family and I drove the coast down to Crescent City and through the redwoods.

Take Highway 101 to Legget, then head SouthWest on Highway 1 toward the coast, passing through Hales Grove. The mountain road from Legget to Hales Grove is very much like the photo you posted above. ( see http://tinyurl.com/4kfcg for a map )
I drove my Cobra from Leggett to Rockport and back. (I dragged it to Leggett in a trailer.) The Cobra has no power steering, so I was stiff for a few days after the trip, but I made it from Legget to Rockport in about 20 minutes. It's only 15 miles or so, but usually about 60-70 minutes of normal driving. My wife, who was in the passenger seat, had to get out and vomit when we got to the coast, so we took two hours to drive back to Leggett. I'm also proud to note that I used 20 gallons of fuel on that little trip, for an extraordinary 1.5 miles to the gallon. (Fuel efficiency is irrelevant with my car. When pushing it hard, the fuel is still burning for a foot beyond the end of the exhaust pipes.) |

For once will you guys get off this American-European thing? Most of the "European" cars you tout as being so good for winding roads are made by American companies. Who cares? See http://forum.finalgear.com/viewtopic...=asc&start=489
Here is a European car nightmare.

we don't have any roads that are remotely close to those in Malaysia... we just have normal winding roads but not extreme ones like those.
Is the screenshot zyran posted a stage they cycle in the tour de france as well... it seems like its a popular road

It's just as American or European as any other car maker. Look at who really owns Ford, GM or any other big corporation. Look at the Japanese car companies-- 90% of their cars are made outside Japan. Half of Ford's vehicles are made outside of the United States, and Ford and GM are also owned by shareholders from all over the world. This is just support for the fact that the "American vs. European" distinguishment is ridiculous. We're part of the same planet, folks. |
