Took these yesturday. I didn't catch much of the ALMS action, as there wasn't really any. 2 Cars went off I believe, one that I could see but was too far for my camera, and another in the Esses? I think. But the Touring cars were just dropping off turn two, but then they were racing in the rain.
I hope you enjoy. Last edited by Aka; April 24th, 2007 at 8:02 PM. |

Nice pics
BTW, is the first picture a R8? I thought Audi is using the R10 now... |

R10 has TDI on the side, R8 has FSI. That's the easiest way to tell I think. Though their bodies are different.

Excellent pictures!! I went to the ALMS race at Road America a few weeks back, but because my camera lens only goes to 55mm, all the cars look really small.
Isnt that Audi a trip? It is so quiet, you can hear the gearbox is louder than the engine! I also like was that when the Corvettes and Astons were close to each other it was like an opera duet of an alto and a basso tenor! Same with the Pannoz Esperantes and the Ferrari's. I do have one picture to add with your Porche Spyder one, though. ![]()

It's funny cuz the R8s were very quiet as well. And these R10s are even quieter! It's funny in comparison to say the LMP2 Porsches... they make my ears clip! It's almost painfully loud!
the Astons, I so hope that at some point in my life I can own a DB9!

Yeah at Mid-Ohio they had uhh Thunder Alley? (one of the straights) and the track had hills up both sides, and the Porsches were just SO loud there, and you could stand almost right next to the track.
Though I think my favourite sounding car is the Corvettes, they just sound deep and powerful. Doesn't make me want one though, I'd rather something else with a similar sound. |

Nice shots, especially the touring crashes, those are great. I think the one with the Spyder leading the Dyson leading the porsche 911 is a great shot but that dirt road in the backround kind of ruins it
where you using a flash? as for the LPM2 Spyder, I never noticed them being that loud when they came here to Portland, even standing pretty close on the inside of the last turn were they mash the throttle and come onto the front straight. I think the BMW has the most glorious sound I have heard. The Aston V12 is way cool as well but it sounds like the air is getting ripped apart, compared to the singing sound of the BMW straight-6. The little engine with the huge turbo in the Highcroft Racing LMP1 car is neat to when you can hear the turbo spooling up and then chirping on the throttle lift-off |

I didn't use flash anywhere, should I have? I didn't even think about it. When I was on the grid walk the sun came out so those pictures are brighter. "Tweety Bird" does have a cool sound! I have to say I didn't find the Porsche LMP2s as loud as I did in Mid-Ohio, but I do find them loud. I think part of it was the "thunder alley" in Mid-Ohio amplifying the sound. |
