The shots look great, was the lighting in the stadium as bad as the pictures suggest?

Pretty much, the lighting was different for each round of cars that came out. Press were confined behind a fence so couldn't use flash or else it would bounce back, so all shot at 1600 & 1250 ISO, F4 ish and 1/160th of a second ...

You did well! I was there on Friday (I think you were too) and it was absolutely shocking light, and like you say, it was different in all the areas. The Prodrive stand was about the only nicely lit place!

I wasn't feeling at all inspired either so I didn't get anything decent at all really! I've not processed any yet because I've been doing other stuff, but I might give it a go soon. Might be able to salvage a few in monochrome or something!

May I ask about your PP? It looks to me (with obvious exceptions) that you reduced color saturation, and upped the contrast? Did you use any lens filters? When taking the pictures of the static cars, what lens did you use?

Reason I am asking is that next month I am spending all day at the Chicago Auto show, I planned to take my 18-55 and my 55-200 lenses along. Should I bring my 50mm?

Saturation is down alot, adjusted WB to suit and only played minorly with the contrast.

Shot the live action stuff with the 70-200 f2.8, the stills with a 17-55 2.8 IS and with the 50mm aswell. Bring as much as you can and be prepared for anything ! Had a 580EX II with me aswell but didn't use it at all.

Some fantastic shots from both of you!
Really gutted I couldn't make it again this year - by all accounts (from other members of my car club) it was a good show... images/smilies/sad.gif
2009... hopefully!

1989 Toyota MR2 Mk1 - owned it for two years. Love it loads. Currently undergoing a suspension upgrade...
1987 Toyota MR2 Mk1 SC - A project car that had Headgasket issues when I bought it. I've never driven it... yet...
